TikTok video of a young woman complaining about having to work 40 hours a week went mega-viral with millions of views on social media.

The woman, who says her name is Eliza, posts under the moniker "SupposedlyASystem," and she says that it is impossible to enjoy life while working 40 hours in order to pay the rent.

"How do people manage to enjoy life while working full time?" she wrote on the video.

"So, I work 40 hours a week so I can have a two-bedroom apartment and an extra $300 a month," she says.

By working in 2 jobs for 15 years. My work week was close to 70 hours every week. I had no time to spend money ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe she can become a ultra high priced hooker at say $500 a pop, two johns a day, maybe 3 hours a day and the rest of the time she can sit on the couch eating bon bons.

I was truly surprised how cheap living is under retirement if one has no serious health issues and house mortgage has been paid off. I can live on just the Income tax savings. Tax rates are far too progressive. They are designed to stop middle class from reaching upper middle class.

Used to support a General who motto was you have 168 hours in a week to get the job done. Several times I logged 120+ hours in a week.

Work and save. That’s how it’s done. Enjoy the fruits of your labor Bobby.

I'm not going to dunk on her. Her life is easier than many, certainly, but I clearly remember feeling the same way. If you don't have a job that is fulfilling in any way, life really does become a treadmill. I was miserable until I became an English teacher, and then... well, I was still exhausted, but at least during the day I had moments, quite a few moments, where I felt like I was doing something of value, helping some kids not drop out of school, getting a few ready for college, spreading some knowledge of classic literature, etc...

And even then, when I was old enough to retire, I retired. And I have very much enjoyed being retired. I don't want to go back to working 40 hour weeks either. It really does seem to me like we've made life harder than it needed to be.

As a mother and homemaker, she would have a more fulfilling life, but she would have much more than a 40 hour week.

[... house mortgage has been paid off.]

That is a game changer. Once we paid off the mortgage everything started to fall into place. It also helps to have a wife that is content with simple pleasures. I couldn’t imagine going into retirement still paying a mortgage, like I hear many of my co-workers doing.

Maybe her Dad worked 80 hour weeks to provide for her.

“Is there anything worse than TikTok?”

Careful, saying anything negative about TikTok is now “racist” according to some Asian American group.

>>find an old-fashioned young man, get married, start a family and be a homemaker.

Really bad idea for this woman. Raising a family is hard work.

Who says she is supposed to enjoy anything? Even the Declaration of Independence claims we have a right to the pursuit of happiness. Some find it, many donโ€™t.

We cant have it both ways. We cant be alarmed by an invasion. We cant be alarmed by excessive taxes. We cant be alarmed by unsustainable ever growing debt AND be unfeeling and uncaring about what this young women is saying. Are we hypocrites? For her it will only get worse. More and more of her generation will feel like her. She should be on our side, we should be on hers. The classic work ethic does not work in a corrupt and rigged society. Really.
