Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley has condemned Walgreens for 'racial and economic discrimination' after closing a pharmacy in Boston.
Pressley, a member of the ultra-progressive 'Squad', said the chain was 'abandoning' low-income communities with the most recent closing in Roxbury on Wednesday.
Walgreens announced the closure of several stores nation wide due to what the company has described as 'rampant theft' in some areas.
Pressley said this decision targets areas with significant minority populations, calling for the company to reconsider their decision instead.
In a speech addressing the house, she said: 'This closure is a part of a larger trend of abandoning low-income communities like the previous closures in Mattapan and Hyde Park, both in the Massachusetts 7th.
'Why was there no community input? No adequate notice to customers? And no transition resources to prevent gaps in health care? Shame on you, Walgreens.
'Having a website with talking points about health equity and underserved communities is not enough.
'Walgreens is a multi-billion-dollar corporation that needs to put their money where their mouth is and stop divesting from Black and brown communities.'
Walgreens, which has been one of the chains hit hardest by retail theft, announced its intentions to close roughly 200 stores across the nation last year.
The Walgreens that Pressley had been referring to was the fourth one in Boston to close in a little over a year, according to Boston25 News.
In order to help ease the transition, Walgreens said they would automatically transfer patient files and prescriptions to a Walgreens one mile away.

What this thing really means is that Walgreens should leave its doors open at night and the lights on too, with the security cameras off, so the “poor” “downtrodden” “oppressed” “victims” of that “evil” White society can help themselves to what’s “rightfully” theirs while simultaneously hating us.
So where’s her bill to open government-run stores in those underserved neighborhoods?

I hope the people of these communities have to take a Greyhound bus to another state to buy stuff that used to be for sale in their neighborhood before they starting looting the merchandise.
Those quaint concepts “free enterprise” and “capitalism” are baffling to woke types.
I remember a class in the late 1950s where the teacher was challenged by a girl about how business works. If the stages from concept of a record album through recording, paying artists, the physical production and transportation to retail outlets made the record cost $2.28 and the store had to sell it for $3.98 to make a profit then the store owners should be jailed. She said anything above $2.28 was stealing. (I can’t actually recall the amounts but something like that.)
And the young people today are much worse.

A New York Magazine article, maybe 1976 or so, had a cover of breadlines going into McDonald’s. Article said (not seriously) the rising unemployment and inefficient methods of sending welfare and food stamps out could lead to a takeover. Low income people were already used to going there.

Your rights go only as far as when they start to interfere with the rights of others. In the USA people have the right to own and operate businesses. If it becomes too dangerous and/or unprofitable to run a business in a particular location it is not incumbent upon you to keep that business open.
These people don’t belong in this country, let alone in Congress.

Racist is when the black community cannot police itself or even have enough paying customers locally to keep the store open. When everyone is a thief.... The black community is a self fulfilling prophecy - we don’t want anyone kept in jail or in prison for their line of work which is usually illegal drugs, theft, or prostitution. Keep those people out on the streets. Get rid of the police. The people who buy the drugs or the ho’s steal or rob others for money so a cycle of violence emerges. Or they try to steal the drugs and get shot. Of course it is everyone else’s fault that these people engaging in illegal activities are getting killed or killing others; or stealing or whatever. So we get the local stores and they know politicians have DA’s and LE under their thumb so nobody is prosecuted for stealing. 2020 was the high tide of BLM. Since that time the DAs have unleased the criminals on the community unabated. Stealing and the racist attitude that it is somehow acceptable for blackie to steal from whitie is as racist as it gets.
They think it is hard now. Wait until the Democrats make their move to install communism in a takeover - those same democrats will have to ration everything. When it gets to rationing, you are going to have to have money to survive. Without a job you will have to contribute and they will organize all the lazy thieves into collectives; if they don’t earn their keep they will end up in unmarked graves or in the burn pits.
