U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert's middling finish in a straw poll Thursday night drew gasps from the crowd that had just witnessed the Colorado lawmaker face off against eight other Republicans in a congressional primary debate at a rec center in Fort Lupton.
The headline-grabbing incumbent's performance in the decidedly non-scientific survey — Boebert landed in fifth place with just over 10% of the vote, behind three veteran state lawmakers and a former talk radio host who ran last cycle for the U.S. Senate — surprised some in the room but drew shrugs from others, who pointed out that the hall was filled with local Republicans loyal to other candidates who shared the debate stage.
The 90-minute debate, which drew national attention, took place less than a month after Boebert, the state's most prominent elected Republican, joined the already crowded GOP primary in the sprawling 4th Congressional District, which covers Colorado's Eastern Plains, anchored by suburban Douglas County.
She announced in late December that would seek another term in Congress from the solidly Republican seat after moving from the more competitive Western Slope-based district she's represented since 2021. Boebert said during the debate that she recently moved to Windsor in Weld County.
Out of 117 votes cast, Logan County Commissioner Jerry Sonnenberg, a former longtime state state lawmaker, led the straw poll with 22 votes, followed by former House Minority Leader Mike Lynch, R-Wellington, who received 20 votes, Douglas County filmmaker Deborah Flora at 18 votes and House Minority Whip Richard Holtorf, R-Akron, with 17 votes.
Boebert got 12 votes, narrowly edging out former congressional nominee Peter Yu's 11 votes, with three more candidates — former state Sen. Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, Weld County Council member Trent Leisy and former congressional staffer Chris Phelen — trailing in single digits.

Ditto...
The straw poll was pretty much meaningless.
Republicans have a target on them.
Soros spends tens of millions annually spying, belittling, hiring PR people and creating “news agencies” like Media Matters to embarrass, discredit, and harm.
They divide us, and conquer, again and again.
And the self-righteous gossipers among us are their best allies.
That’s very bad news since she is one of the few Republicans that isn’t a bought and paid for whore that owned by the Republican establishment donors.
Let me guess -- you're a big supporter of the proxy war in Ukraine.
It is so easy to manipulate people when you control the ‘news’ media.
I like Boebert, she’s been conservative.
She has a A/100% Liberty Score.

You can tell the RINOs who complain about her.
Stiff enough to penetrate?
Stick a fork in her.
Boebert is one of only several women and several men in the House that routinely stand up and raise hell with the democrats.
As far as playing around in a theater with some guy goes, at least she’s not gender dysphoric and waiting for a penis to be installed.
In today’s world, us straight white males should cling to the old adage....”beggars can’t be too choosy” when it comes to candidates to Congress.
She brought discredit to the office she was elected to serve.
Carpet-bagging to new digs is not looked on favorably here. She needs to take care of her kids - she messed up.
Nailed it.
You do realize that guy she was playing "grope tag" with at the DCPA owns a bar that has hosted drag queens, don't you?
CD 4 is a very conservative district. We don't need Boebert - there are many more candidates that show her to be the laughing-stock that she has become.
And yes, I supported Boebert when she first ran.
I make Boebert look like Bill Clinton when it comes to conservatism.
It's not RINOs who are tired of her. It's true conservatives. CD 4 has many, many qualified candidates who would also score 100% easily.
You do realize that CD 4 has candidates lined up who are much more highly principled than Boebert?
Was it principled of her to be playing "grope tag" with a guy in a theater - who also owns a bar that allows drag shows?
Well we also have the high and mighty here
Id hit it
My, my, my.
Great pix
