Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new decree relating to Moscow's historic real estate holdings abroad, a move interpreted by ultranationalist bloggers as a foundation for future revanchism against Russia's neighbors—and even the U.S.
The decree, signed by the president late last week, allocates funds for the search, registration, and legal protection of Russian property abroad, including property in the former territories of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union.
This would include Alaska, swathes of eastern and central Europe, large chunks of central Asia, and parts of Scandinavia.
Russia's Foreign Ministry and its presidential administration's Foreign Property Management Enterprise are directed to carry out the work, ordered to find, register, and protect "property" in question.
(snip)
"The Kremlin may use the 'protection' of its claimed property in countries outside of its internationally recognized borders to forward soft power mechanisms in post-Soviet and neighboring states ultimately aimed at internal destabilization."
One prominent ultranationalist, pro-war military blogger framed the decree as a step towards new territorial conflicts with Russian neighbors, including the U.S.
"We suggest starting with Alaska," the Two Majors Telegram channel—which has more than 530,000 subscribers—wrote. Beyond that, the blogger wrote that the Kremlin should look to "Dnieper Ukraine, Bessarabia, the Grand Duchy of Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Central Asian states of Russian Turkestan, most of the Baltic provinces, and a significant part of Poland."

USABLE WITH FAR MORE ACCURACY, ALSO, I WOULD BET.
If Putin is talking about wealth “stolen” from Russia then let us talk about wealth the Soviet Union stole from other countries through nationalization and out right theft.

Russian property abroad? You have to be kidding.
All what Russians brought to abroad was utmost devastation!
But, this is in line with Putin’s long stated goal to restore the old Russian empire of the Tzars!
What else do you know of Putin’s mind?
**********
1. I know that he’s smart enough to avoid any other invasion before he has either finished off Ukraine or a friendlier Trump comes to power.
2. I have more confidence in Putin’s mind than Biden’s. Or Nikki’s.
Russia’s military at this point might not even be in the top 10 of armed forces worldwide. They can’t even project power effectively against Ukraine, and the US, despite woke contamination of the military, is not Ukraine. This is a sad attempt by Putin to appeal to nationalists in Russia, as even they must be getting fed up with his flailing about in Ukraine.
Putin respects nothing. First the speaker of the Russian Duma spoke of “reversing the illegal transfer of Alaska” and now the sick little leprechaun jumps on that Neo Czarist and Neo Soviet sentiment backed with circulated maps showing Alaska as part of Russia.
Before the all-out Ukraine invasion, Russian social media and Moscow’s pundits were laughing at Ukraine, “What is Ukraine? It will last two days”. These Alaska statements are more of the same bluster, but it is Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania that are in the greatest danger if Ukraine were to fall.
TASS is the original source, which I posted above. You know, RUSSIAN STATE MEDIA!!!
Newsweek just picked up on it.
Putin respects NOTHING. He laid the groundwork for this kind of territorial recovery in his "Russian World" policy released in September 2022:
Putin approves new foreign policy doctrine based on 'Russian World'
People better be waking up! Hitler loudly proclaimed what he was going to do in Mein Kampf and nobody but Churchill listened to him. Putin is now doing the same thing but nobody wants to believe it, until it is too late.
So you're content keeping your head in the sand, even when Putin is broadcasting exactly what he's planning to do? Just like Hitler did?
Yes, just like Hitler. The parallels abound.
F’ing clown.
So what part of the story is inaccurate?
A lot like Hitler in WWII. Instead of finishing off England, he turned to Operation Barbosa and invaded Russia.
Barbarossa. My error.
In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Putin's Decree Triggers Ominous Alaska Calls, Timber Rattler wrote: Confirmed by TASS, i.e. Russian State Media: Russia to allocate funds for search of Soviet, Imperial Russian property abroad
So are some of you anti-Ukraine posters ready to give Alaska back to the Muscovites?
What are you lying about now, Timber Rattler?
You quoted a distorted Newsweek article, then linked to a missing article on Tass. Once again the writing all conflates what extremists say with Putin himself. The original article speaks of 'Russian Property' and I think we all know what property means. China owns a lot in the US, but you're fine with that. Japan, Saudia Arabia, many countries have property in the United States. But you of course distort some fragment of some article to mean THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING FOR ALASKA!Oh the collapse of the Ukraine simply can't some soon enough. So tired of your propaganda.

Odds are Abbott will just do some lame legal shenanigans and file a dumb lawsuit, but what he should do is have Texas state police and/or guard arrest the border patrol agents who try to remove the wire.
Kinda like declaring sanctions and stealing bank accounts and yachts huh?
The only reason Putin does this is because the regime keeps talking about seizing all that is Russian and giving it to Ukraine.
How can Russia ever hope to challenge the US when it cannot even handle Ukraine?
That’s the one thing I have never understood with those claiming Russia is this big bad dread. They are big (in geography) and bad (in most things - their food, their military, a lot of things), but how can they be the big bad dread if they cannot even defeat Ukraine?
Poland alone would be sufficient.
I wish someone could explain how Russia can be both pathetic yet to be feared at the same time.
