"NASA has now announced that it has lost contact with the (Mars) helicopter, though it’s unclear how serious this problem is." "NASA lost communication with the helicopter in the summer of last year, so it may be that communications with the helicopter can be re-established. It’s also possible that the Perseverance rover, which is nearby but currently out of sight of the helicopter, could drive over to perform a visual inspection to find out more about the helicopter’s status."

at the controls ???”
He’s still waiting for the rover to reach home plate.

It had a good run. Kudos to all who created it.
It will return as Vegra. Hot bald chick included.

Flight 72 Status Update
Written by NASA/JPL
On Jan. 18, NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter executed its 72nd flight at the Red Planet. The flight was designed as a quick pop-up vertical flight to check out the helicopter’s systems, following an unplanned early landing during its previous flight. Data Ingenuity sent to the Perseverance rover (which acts as a relay between the helicopter and Earth) during the flight indicates it successfully climbed to its assigned maximum altitude of 40 feet (12 meters).
During its planned descent, communications between the helicopter and rover terminated early, prior to touchdown. The Ingenuity team is analyzing available data and considering next steps to reestablish communications with the helicopter.

The short flight anomaly was noted here on the Flight 71 thread. Thus, the info on the Flight Preview for 72 being a going nowhere "pop-up" was not a surprise.

On the 13th, I posted some interesting "bookend" patterns concerning the totals as of Flight 71:
Why the Hovercraft's Time Might Have Finally Arrived
Now do keep in mind that I posted that to a few people who would already know the basic background involved. Not that anyone seems to care, but I had plenty of reasons to post it anyway for documentation purposes.
Ingenuity has been a running parable from the beginning, having launched on Tisha B'Av in the belly of Perseverance, by way of the Atlas V 541 rocket (541 = Israel).
(Tisha B'Av was the splashdown date of the "dove", the "Columbia" command module for Apollo 11.)
Tisha B'Av -- the day marking the destruction of the two Temples -- has a Messianic soul connection.
It was a 203-day journey, which equals the first three letters of the Torah and repeats as the second word, "created" [ברא]. In the mix of news, on the day ahead of the touchdown, Rush died on Ash Wednesday at age 70. His name relates because the first 4 letters of the Torah are "with Rush." [בראש]
Ingenuity was born on Mars on April 3, 2021, the eve of Easter. It's also the traditional date for the Crucifixion in AD 33. I'm not arguing theories; the *fact* is that it's the tradition.
BTW the birthplace and launch for the first 5 flights was dubbed "Wright Brothers Field", a square of 33 x 33 ft, 10 x 10 m, 1 square "are".
There's more to all of that, but
NASA's big concern was if Ginny would be able to survive the night all alone in the cold. Well, as someone had commented on the Twitter blog at the time, it wasn't like they had to worry about anyone stealing the body.
First flight: April 19, 2021 which was Patriot's Day. Like the helicopter, it is all about the Revolution. How to get a helicopter flying on Mars. 2400+ RPM.

is there a map of where all the craft has flown in relation to the base?..........................

Every time one finds the number forty in Torah, its inner meaning is the ascent from one level to the next higher one. We get a new mission at forty. But the attainment of a higher level can come only after first reaching and fulfilling all aspects of the previous level, and then making an emptiness in the middle to allow for the emergence of something entirely new.

There is a principle in Chassidic thought that ''the higher something is, the lower it falls''.
Descent for the purpose of ascent: in Hebrew this is known as Yerida l'tzorich aliyah

3 months free when you sign up a friend. I think NASA has missed some opportunities here.
May as well be on the moon ;^)
Should have known better. Did they think Varlock The Vicious, Supreme Ruler of Mars was going to put up with this?
We were warned.
We ignored at our peril the motto of the Mars University basketball team: “Surrender Earthlings!’’.
Huh. Nothing surprising in that picture.
Congratulations, gentlemen! Well done!
I blame the pilot, reduce that man in rank!
Now we don’t have tot hear about the mundane flights day after day
And all that for a mere 500 million dollars with no warranty.
