The global climate is always changing, but contrary to the popular narrative, the science on the exact causes is far from settled. Alarmists claim that humans burning fossil fuels for energy will catastrophically ruin the climate, and they demand a “net-zero” future to save the world.
What would happen if the climate alarmists actually succeeded in the United States?
Although it is impossible to predict the future, early warning signs from President Joe Biden’s policies don’t paint a pretty picture.
Decreased Individual Mobility
First, if the federal government bans gas-powered cars, individual transportation would get less reliable and more expensive.
Americans prefer gas-powered cars over the electric cars favored by climate alarmists. In November, a coalition of nearly 4,000 auto dealers sent a letter to Biden explaining that his plan to force Americans to buy electric vehicles won’t work.
The auto dealers warned that “the supply of unsold [battery electric vehicles] is surging, as they are not selling nearly as fast as they are arriving at our dealerships—even with deep price cuts, manufacturer incentives, and generous government incentives.”
Despite subsidies to encourage manufacturers to make electric vehicles and tax credits for drivers to buy the cars, only 7% of new vehicle sales are electric, compared with Biden’s goal of 60% in 2030 and 66% in 2032.
Americans have many reasons to prefer gas-powered cars, as explained by Diana Furchtgott-Roth, director of The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Energy, Climate and Environment. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news outlet.)
Drivers may refuel gas-powered cars in five or 10 minutes at a gas station, while recharging an electric vehicle may take 45 minutes or longer for a full charge. Most drivers of electric vehicles prefer to keep their battery above 20%, and the charging process gets longer when the battery reaches 80%.

Wrong. The EV cultists will not be satisfied with banning ICE vehicles. Won’t take them long to decide that EV harm the environment as well. Then they will declare war on EV.
They will not be satisfied until the common man is living in a cave using a mirror to prepare his tea made of tree leaves.
Funny how those same climate alarmists are mostly vegans, woke and have no common sense at all. They do not take into account the vehicles and infrastructure required to remove rare earth metals from the ground to build the materials used in alternative energy solutions. Nor do they take into account the farm implements used to plant and harvest products for consumption. They care not that people would die from hypothermia or heat stroke without climate control because they do not care, period.
Biggest issue though is that most of these people are wealthy, live in major cities and can afford to buy what others will not be able to afford. The sad, yet funny part of all of this is the leftists are unwittingly creating a society similar to Pol Pot’s Cambodia. “Cambodia’s leaders sought to create an idyllic and classless agrarian society, one that harkened to the Angkor Empire from the 800s. “They wanted all members of society to be rural agricultural workers rather than educated city dwellers, who the Khmer Rouge believed had been corrupted by western capitalist ideas,” according to the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. Conservatives won’t go to the camps because they are the ones who will be working and paying taxes to fund government. The rich won’t go because they will all be in Europe. Guess who will be going to the killing fields? Gen Z, millennials and the useful idiots the left used to get here in the first place.

The dream of the environmentalists is for everyone to live in high rise apartments built next door to their workplace. Everyone walks to work. All that is necessary, as determined by them, is within walking distance. No one but the elite will have a car EV or otherwise. No air travel except for the elite. Forget about cruise ships. If you want to experience a safari in Africa, well, you can watch a video.
The size of the population will be strictly controlled and the population restricted to very small areas. The environmentalists have plans to remove all the cities and highways, all the traces of man from the great plains so that the buffalo herds can once again roam the west unrestricted from canada to mexico.
So, yes, they are crazy but don’t be fooled by their claims about EV. Their plans extend far beyond that.
There are too many people like Biden & others in his administration who don’t understand the first thing about a motor vehicle....or much of anything else for that matter. I guess they must assume that anyone not educated at one of the Ivy League colleges is not smart enough to explain anything to them...the educated elite. I have news for them; there is MUCH the elite don’t understand that someone without even a high school education could explain to them so they could understand it. Maybe.
When it finally becomes time to ‘Get Outta Dodge’, I hope all their vehicles have a full charge.
It’s hard to punch a hole in the ‘gas tank’ of an EV and drain some electrons out to place in YOUR Volt!
So, here we are once again in conservation mode because of the cold weather storm blowing through the state and much of the country. So many resources available to Texas, and their government has decided to reduce the quality of life instead.
You are probably right. And we are fools to believe them.
The EV boondoggle is not well thought out. There are very smart people involved pushing it, too. Maybe it is a religion to them. A cult. Or maybe they have sinister motives as you mention.
Surely, they can’t be that stupid. And don’t call me surely!

It’s annoying sitting at a charger with a sleeping kid in the back seat when some bozo is sitting in his car a couple of feet away playing loud music. He was charging from 68% which to me is stupid. I only charge when my car gets down into the 20%’s. If you have to sit at a charger do it all at once. It isn’t worth stopping at a charger just to put 15% in. It’s only 60 miles. Charging from 25 to 80 % is like 200 miles.
