Trump hints at VP pick during Fox News town hall

Former President Trump on Wednesday suggested he knows who’s in the running as his vice presidential pick should he win the GOP nomination.

Trump attended a Fox News town hall in Iowa, where anchor Martha MacCallum asked who would be in contention to join him on the Republican ticket.

“Well I can’t tell you that really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” Trump said.

Asked if he’d be willing to consider any of the people who ran against him in the primary, Trump indicated he would.

“I’ve already started to like Christie better,” Trump quipped, a reference to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) dropping out of the primary race earlier in the day and criticizing fellow candidate Nikki Haley in the process.

NBC News reported that a Trump campaign adviser clarified that nothing is finalized in terms of a vice presidential pick.

Trump is the dominant frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, maintaining a comfortable lead in national and state-level polling dating back to when he announced his candidacy in November 2022.

Polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show Trump leading his GOP rivals by 53 percentage points in national surveys, by 36 points in Iowa and by 11 points in New Hampshire.

Trump has largely been mum about who he might choose as a running mate, though he has named South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) as an option he’d consider. The former president is not expected to pick his previous running mate and vice president, Mike Pence, for another campaign.

Trump allies have pushed for a female running mate, with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) and Haley among others mentioned.

MTG? *snort*. Oh wait, you’re serious?

Yes, I’m quite serious because MTG (along with Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson) has the ability to help deliver a battleground state. She’d have the potential to appeal to the pivotal suburban women demographic in Georgia.

Plus, incidentally, she’s currently acting a Trump campaign surrogate in Iowa.

Whoever it is, it needs be someone who is a serious contender for 2028, because Democrats are already thinking about who to run in that cycle since they’ll have a bigger bench of experienced governors to choose from at that point.

It can’t be some flash in the pan non-serious non-long term pick or the GOP is back to square one.

No RFK Jr. Is a losing pick. He is a hardcore leftist. Better Jeb Bush than Kennedy. There probably 50 better candidates starting with random names in the phone book

He learned his lesson. It won’t be no Washington insider like Pence.

People say that he's learned his lesson. I have not seen any indication of this.

Not my first choice, but winning is the priority.

>>>Exactly, that’s why I think Haley would be a horrible choice because she would drive away more otherwise Trump voters than attract them.

Birdbrain is backed by a terrible cross section of GOPe NeverTrumpers as well as rats.

Even Don, Jr., has proclaimed that he will go to the mat to stop her from being his father’s running mate.

If a female, either Noem or Sarah Huckabee - both are MAGA, both don’t take crap from anyone, and both have executive experience. Between the two, I like Huckabee better.

If a male, I like Mike Pompeo. First and foremost, he’s been loyal. He’s MAGA, he’s frighteningly smart, and has great leadership skills as a West Pointer, former CIA Director and former Secretary of State. He’s from Kansas, and would completely solidify all of middle America for Trump. Foreign leaders will take him as seriously as Trump, unlike the old hair-sniffer and that cackling idiot, Heels Up Harris.

It’s going to be Haley, I’ve been saying for months. Trump is clearly running to the left, because he thinks that’s how he can beat Biden, and the left is where she lives. They barely mentioned each other tonight, either, it was all about taking DeSantis out.

No on Noem. If she can’t stand up t the trans lobby, which represents a fraction of a percent of the population, then how will she deal with Red China, North Korea, Iran, and the drug cartels if Trump succumbs to biology?

Glad you agree Vivek should be in the administration. Trump said he likes him and I listen to him handle crowds, small and large, on Rumble. Absolutely brilliant. First thing he would do as president would be to close the border and deport invaders. Abolish mail-in votes, require in-person voting with verified photo ID, registration and citizenship....
Etc
Etc
Etc

I would pick Hunter Biden before I even considered Mike Pompeo.

The guy is a textbook definition of a D.C. Swamp creature.

The presidential candidate chooses his running mate.

That's simply not the case. The President and VP actually run separately, and it's theoretically possible for the President and VP to be elected from two separate parties.

Ronald Reagan never wanted George Bush to be his running mate. Bush was foisted on Reagan as part of a GOP compromise.

And you'll never convince me that John McCain had any interest in running with Sarah Palin in 2008.

The VP candidate is generally selected by party insiders. That's why they always tend to be career politicians who are mediocrities and losers, and whose main qualification is their ties to party leadership.

Kristi Noem probably has the best odds of being Trump’s running mate. She helps address many of his weaknesses, and you can never go wrong with a rancher’s daughter from a Great Plains state.

Yup - I feel the same way - and pray to God as much.
I told friends and family for over a year now - Mark Robinson.

He’d be a GREAT pick. He’d be a Godly influence on Trump AND the fearlessness + humility that Trump would admire and listen to as wise counsel AND BIGTIME would be a great counter to Michelle Obama running.

Trump is just not the viscous vindictive guy he is portrayed to be.

I don't PDJT personally. But sure wish he was more viscous and vindictive against the deepstate. They are trying to kill him after all.
