A lawsuit attempting to punish the FDA for denouncing ivermectin as a COVID cure could have dangerous consequences
In 2021, a bizarre cure for COVID-19 began to emerge on social media, the anti-parasite drug ivermectin. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now under fire for its efforts to refute claims that the drugs could stop the deadly virus.
A group of doctors is now suing the FDA, saying the agency’s efforts to refute claims about the drug’s effectiveness against COVID caused them personal harm. Some experts fear that punishment the FDA could face for refuting false information about the drug could undermine public health messaging in America.
After a questionable later-retracted study claiming ivermectin could cure COVID emerged in 2021, many Americans began to seek it out. It especially became popular among people in communities that were skeptical of the COVID-19 vaccines and other pandemic measures such as masking and social distancing.......
“FDA decided to target that practice via the ‘horse’ message—and others like it. The messaging traveled widely across legacy and online media,” they write in their suit. “Left unmentioned in most of the messaging: ivermectin also comes in a human version. And while the human version of ivermectin is not FDA-approved to treat the coronavirus, some people were using it off-label for that purpose.”
Christopher Robertson, J.D., Ph.D. and Tina Watson, legal experts from Boston University, write in the New England Journal of Medicine that “If the case against the FDA ultimately prevails, the agency’s ability to protect the public and support evidence-based medicine could be eroded.”
They describe the Fifth Circuit's decision as “puzzling”. Judges in the case write that the FDA does not have the authority to endorse, denounce or advise on medical decisions — just the power to inform or announce.

The lawsuit is not “undermining” public health. The FDA has already done that by killing and crippling millions of innocent and trusting souls through the tyranny of their “science”.
Paid-by-the-word government “influencer” mouthing his-her-its government propaganda.
I’m not saying there was no profit taking—after FDA banned it for human use, maybe some doctors (vets?) marked up the price and sold it. However, I see no evidence that this happened.
I agree! I was just commenting on the predictable response to any attempts to DO so.
Probably because emergency use authorization does not apply to approved drugs - only experimental ones who have no approved alternative.
Why take money from our taxes to sue ourselves?
File an action to add personal liability for their decision to kill people, instead of warning them, as in murder first degree.
joesbucks has a trolling history that deserves whatever he/she/it gets.
I am tired of him/her/it stalking me.
Got any more holier-than-thou virtue-signaling you'd like to share?
OK, that’s even better!
What an article of horse manure.
There was also no reason why WuFlu could not be treated with the same drugs normally used on a bad flu from the beginning.
I got sick in early 2020 and called my doctor, he listened, diagnosed it as bronchitis and called in prescriptions for my nebulizer, antibiotic and stuff. What he would normally prescribe because I have lung trouble and any sort of thing like that needs to be jumped on before I end up in the hospital. I recovered obviously, the afterlife has really bad wi-fi, and later was being tested and discovered that had been Wu-Flu. Called my doctor. He said that if he had diagnosed it as Wu-Flu that the protocol was to send me to the ER where I would have sat with a bunch of sick people, gotten no treatment and sent home to get worse.
There was no reason to do any of the stuff they did but especially the no treatment part.
Read the article. When year did the use vs the year it actually happened.
“FDA decided to target that practice via the ‘horse’ message—and others like it. What is not mentioned is the the FDA had never before had paid for a mass media advertising blitz against the off label use of any approved drug.
Not mentioned is that today most of the FDA's budget is financed by the drug companies that produced the emergency use approved experimental mRNA vaccines.
Not mentioned is that the emergency approval of experimental drug is depends on there being no alternative treatment for a dangerous disease.
This is a very one-sided article. More like Op-ed from a drug company.
The reason the FDA forbade Ivermectin and any other existing therapeutic drug to treat COVID is because the Emergency Use Authorization for the vaccine was only valid if there was no other treatment available.
They had to lie to make the EAU legal.
That is the truth, boys and girls! If you dig real deep, it is all about power and money!
I still can't decipher your word-salad.
Is English your fifteenth language or something?
Exactly. Fewer options for us, more profits for Pharma and for doctors who keep their mouth shut.
But for the comprehensively impaired, the article states……… In 2021, a bizarre cure for COVID-19 began to emerge on social media, the anti-parasite drug ivermectin. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now under fire for its efforts to refute claims that the drugs could stop the deadly virus.
It was 2020 that the bizzare cure began to emerge on social media. For example this 2020 FR thread: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3873223/posts
Or this one from the early days of the virus. April, 2020: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3838811/posts
Or this tread that referenced Newsmax. https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3871538/posts
So, to sum it up, Ivermectic was being widely discussed even during the early days of covid. Not 2021 as the article states.
“Any medical authority who used the term ‘horse paste’ should be held accountable.”
Exactly. Anybody who does that is a charlatan. They never acknowledge that it was developed for human beings to treat river blindness. They go to the horse aspect to make Ivermectin users seem like crackpots.
It works for animals, but its original use was in humans.
Prove that the data from the Frontline doctors was wrong - I dare you. Ivermectine worked and that is the problem, they would rather Joe Rogan had died than ivermectin be seen as effective. The population will not be reduced to 90% all by itself you know. Get the shot and your 8th booster and enjoy your myocarditis.
"Dr. Mary Talley Bowden, an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist who studied medicine at both the University of Texas and Stanford University, says she has successfully treated more than 5,500 COVID-19 patients without a single death. She drew controversy in 2021 for promoting Ivermectin and other early treatments while publicly criticizing vaccine mandates."
Fauci's Remdesivir/Ventilator protocol killed 40% of the patients subjected to it.
The COVID-19 vaccines could only be approved with the Emergency Use Authorization if there were no other treatments available. Without the EUA Big Pharma would have lost billions of dollars. The last thing they wanted was a cheap, existing treatment.
