James Woods
@RealJamesWoods

It’s hard to imagine heroism greater than that of this Revolutionary Patriot, Colonel William Washington. Co-incidentally ancestor also fought (and was wounded) at Cowpens. He survived and went on to fight at Eutaw Springs as well. He was infantry while William Washington was highly regarded as a horseman, often in direct battle against the dreaded dragoon Banastre Tarleton.
____________________________________________________________

On this day in history, February 28, 1752, Colonel William Washington is born.

He was a second cousin of George Washington who trained to be a minister as a young man. When the Revolution broke out, he joined the local minutemen and became a Captain in the Continental Army.

Washington saw extensive combat during the war. He fought together with his lieutenant, future President James Monroe, at the Battles of Harlem Heights and Trenton, where they were both injured. He fought at Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth. Due to his superb horsemanship, he became a major in the Light Dragoons (soldiers on horseback) and after an attack at Old Tappan, New Jersey, in which he was severely injured, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and made the head of the 3rd Light Dragoons.

In 1779, Washington went to join the Continental Army in the south, where he met his nemesis, Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton on the battlefield many times. In 1780 and 1781, he was in continuous battle. He fought with Tarleton at Rantowle’s Bridge, South Carolina on March 26, 1780 and again at the Rutledge Plantation on the 26th. On April 14, Tarleton won the Battle of Monck’s Corner, but Washington escaped. His dragoons were defeated by Tarleton again at Lenud’s Ferry on May 5. Washington escaped again, but the dragoons were so decimated they had to withdraw to regroup.

In August, Washington joined General Daniel Morgan in the interior of South Carolina and defeated Loyalists at Rugeley’s Mill, where he tricked them into surrendering by using a fake cannon made of a log. Then he won another battle with Loyalists at Hammond’s Old Store, which led General Cornwallis to instruct Tarleton to find Morgan and his cavalry at any cost.

In January, 1781, Morgan trapped Tarleton and his dragoons at the Battle of Cowpens. Washington was instrumental in the battle and personally chased Tarleton as he tried to escape. During the escape, Washington became surrounded by several of Tarleton’s men. He was nearly killed by a sabre blow, but a black servant shot the sword-handler.

Tarleton finally shot Washington’s horse from under him and got away.

On September 8, 1781, at the Battle of Eutaw Springs, after being instructed to attack the British in a dense thicket, Washington ordered a retreat when he realized the thicket was too dense for his cavalry. The cavalry was decimated by British fire and Washington’s horse was shot from underneath him. He was bayoneted, captured and taken prisoner to Charleston, where he remained until the end of the war.

Back in Charleston, Washington married wealthy heiress Jane Elliott. When the war came to an end, they stayed in Charleston and managed Jane’s extensive plantations. Washington served in the South Carolina legislature from 1787 to 1804 and turned down the governorship several times.

Washington became a Brigadier General of the South Carolina militia in 1794 and in 1798, President John Adams appointed him a Brigadier General in the US Army during the Quasi-War with France. He passed away in 1810.

Washington’s contribution to the American Revolution can be summed up by a comment allegedly made by Lord Cornwallis after surrendering at Yorktown – “There could be no more formidable antagonist in a charge, at the head of his cavalry, than Colonel William Washington.”

Thank you, revolutionary war and beyond, for this essay.

They’re setting Biden up with photo ops like this… This tells you how the media is shaping, how Biden’s subordinates are about to take him out or off the 2024 ticket.

Classic shaping operations to justify no-confidence. No PR person looking out for him would have allowed him to be near reporters in public with such a question - while eating ice cream.

Yes, ice cream. It takes all of your worries
away. It is soothing and delicious, and
personable: everyone has a favorite flavor! Ice
cream brings people with dementia to happier,
warmer times when the treat was shared with
friends and loved ones at special, joyous occa￾sions. Ice cream has the power to immediately
elicit soothing feelings at the very first taste of a
single spoon-full. It erases all the negative feel￾ings related to the frustration and continues to
stimulate pleasure receptors in the brain with
every new scoop. And dementia (here is the
best part!) allows one to fully enjoy the treat,
with no concerns for calories, weight gain or
dietary needs, completely guilt free! For people
with dementia, ice cream is far more effective
and safe than Prozac, or any other “happy” drug
on the market!
If you are caring for a loved one with dementia,
find out what flavor is their absolute favorite
and NEVER RUN OUT OF ICE CREAM! If you
have dietary concerns, use brands that observe
your dietary needs. There are plenty of diabetic
friendly brands available. Ice cream can also be
found in low fat, low cal, sugar free and lactose
free varieties. Whatever kind or flavor you use,
always have plenty of it handy always. Ice
cream is an essential part of your dementia care
tool-kit, like a Swiss army knife that’s invalua￾ble for many occasions.

Get better soon, sis. My shoulder cuff is messed up. My PT worked on it yesterday and gave me some more exercises
to do. So far this AM I’ve used heating pad after using ice around 2:30. Took a flexeral and now a half hydrocone. Done lots of stretches. Still hurts.

My colonguard test came back positive so guess I’ll get a colonoscaphy. The main thing I’m worried about is them not turning or moving my neck.

🌷take care!

I wanted a picture of them in their baskets, it sounded so cute.

How did they do last night in their beds in the bathroom?

“They left a flyer on the door today.”

oh no! I was hoping you would be exempt being out in a rural area. It’s one thing to read about this stuff and quite another to experience it personally. I don’t trust whatever it is they are doing.

“I’ve been having horrendous cramps in
my left hand.”

muscle cramps are awful! Does the Ashwagandha KSM-66 help with that?

I’m going to see if Walmart carries it, I need to go get a prescription anyway. And CVS is right across the street if not!

Amazon carries lots of it - I looked it up last night after reading Ms.B.’s post.

Ms.B. that cramping sounds so awful. I hope it doesn’t happen again. Thanks for the info on the Ashwagandha stuff. Looking into it.

It’s always so disappointing to see the women on the good side turn into train wrecks. First, Boebert’s little dope and grope session with a dem in a public place, now her son has more problems than he already had. Not to mention a divorce thrown in there somewhere. Hard to be a promoter of family values when everything is falling apart.
