Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador pledged to fight a new Texas law allowing state authorities to prosecute migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico.
Border issues previously were left to federal authorities, but the inclusion of state and local police contributes to rising tensions between Mexico and the U.S. as Congress struggles to negotiate border security policy.
“The foreign ministry is already working on the process to challenge this law,” López Obrador said Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) “wants to win popularity with these measures, but he’s not going to win anything, but he’ll lose favor, because in Texas there are so many Mexicans and migrants,” he added.

A decade ago, McDonald’s had the drive thru menu in Spanish. Thankfully, enough customers complained so it was put back into English.
Before that, HEB, a Texas owned grocery chain with operations in Mexico, put half the label on foods in Spanish. Front/back label in English and back/front/whichever in Spanish, not just the ingredient list in Spanish. Don’t know if they still do since I dumped their Butts.

On Capital Hill, Democrats negotiate knowing they will never follow the laws they agree to in any compromise. These laws are merely placeholders selectively enforced according to their latest political whims.
Democrats love to talk about no one being above the law. But, in practice, they are utterly lawless.
What is MLO going to do? Stop cooperating with Texas?
