Around 300 soldiers from the Cambridge Springs-based 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard have been called up to be deployed.
That’s according to Travis Mueller, a spokesperson from the National Guard.
Mueller stated the soldiers will leave for two to three weeks of training later this month, and will then depart for a nine-month deployment in the Horn of Africa.
They are part of 1,000 members of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team being deployed to this region who will be working alongside the U.S. Africa Command, NATO and other international partners doing force protection and crisis response in the region.

There have been a couple thousand troops in Africa for a while. Nothing new.
Why not regular army?
The area where Somalia is. Hmmmm…
And is the Ethiopian civil war still going on?
The Horn of Africa is just across the Strait from Yemen, source of hostile drones and missile fire.
That seems an act of corruption to send the NG out of the country. They are supposed to be a domestic service. That comes pretty close to militarizing your entire population, if you can send a domestic service over to act as part of the international forces.
Oh, they are going to be deployed to West and North/NE Philadelphia?
I lived at Broad and Diamond for 4 years at Temple University. Know the area well.

I hope we are not invading yemen. Possible retaliatory strikes?
They’re on standby for deployment against Trump supporters in the US. On weekly training exercises. 😉
Yemen is aligned with Iran. Are we going to war with Iran?
insanity....
Ethiopia and Eritrea are working up to war....why not, everybody else is doing it...
And there’s that.
Whole world is a powder keg and the puppet masters just sit back and laugh.
Why would an Infantry National Guard unit be for “domestic service”? What about the tank units, fighter jet units, green beret units, etc?
The Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and Reserves are to fight wars.
Something seems amiss. I'd suspect the lack of Active Duty personnel. Most guard members can't be away from their regular jobs for 9 months. It looks like HQ is using a cycle less than 365 days to avoid giving these troops a short-tour credit.
I was deployed to Horn of Africa. It’s routine for various National Guard units to rotate through there. Nine months is normal.
National Guard? Regular Army depleted?
Because the NG was set up in response to that the military could not respond to domestic affairs. That is my understanding.
So, using the NG internationally seems to be an act of corruption. Liberals have a tendency to want to mix functions on everything. In their minds, there is nothing wrong with using a domestic force internationally and there is no question that they would the military domestically, and even as police, if they could get away with it.
Somalia, here they come.
National Guard should never leave the US.
