New report says Israel has conducted initial tests and begun to fill Hamas's underground tunnels with water from the Mediterranean Sea.
The Israeli military has begun pumping water from the Mediterranean Sea into Hamas' tunnel network, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, quoting US officials familiar with the operations.
The move, still in its early stages, is one of several techniques Israel is using in its operation to eliminate the Hamas terror group.
A spokesperson for Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (Likud) declined to comment to WSJ, telling the news outlet that "tunnel operations are classified."
The Wall Street Journal report quoted the US officials as saying that Israel has installed seven industrial pumps, and began the process around when it added the last two pumps to the initial five and conducted initial testing.

US officials have expressed doubts about the effectiveness or feasibility of flooding a complex estimated to include hundreds of kilometers of tunnels, and have pointed out that doing so could damage Gaza's agriculture and freshwater supply. Israel is reportedly still examining whether or not flooding the tunnels is a realistic strategy, although Israeli officials have thus far declined to comment on the operation.

Kinda like capturing CO2 and sequestering it by pumping it into rock formations to prevent rising CO2 levels.
This has been “breaking news” for weeks. Nothing has happened except the usual dialogue and sensationalism. Lemme know when we have video footage of the bad guys come slithering out of the caves.
The U.S telling Israel what to do and not do is tiresome.
Good. Throw in a live electrical chord so they can turn on the lights.
Someone is fun of BS, either the author of this article or the unknown official quoted. The Egyptians have flooded HAMAS tunnels with sea water and raw sewage in the past, is worked and Gaza has not slipped into the Ocean. we should send Austin to train and advise HAMAS, the war would have ended weeks ago.
To be fair, the Israelis sent a flotilla of rubber ducks for the terrorists before sending in the water.
And troubles went down the drain.

“US officials have expressed doubts about the effectiveness or feasibility of flooding a complex estimated to include hundreds of kilometers of tunnels . . .”
It doesn’t have to work 100 percent. Just knowing the pumps are in place will unnerve the terrorists; give them one more thing to think about. One more reason to move above ground and surrender.
The prospect of drowning underground will distract almost anyone from their mission. The terrorists already know the Israeli Army does not like them and are not playing around anymore.
LOL
That’s all she wrote.
“Come out, surrender to IDF with a hostage, and you get a shorter prison sentence.”
I prefer “and we kill you quickly.”

Good....ruin everything that you can , and kill as many muslims that you can.
This sounds very promising
Hopefully it will drown all the Fakestinian devils
“The scope of SoCal’s water problems:”
It’s NOT a “water problem” in California, it’s a POLITICAL CHOICE that they’ve made to destroy their state.
The hostages are already dead. Flood the tunnels.
I remember that
Looks like the terrorists will be have to grow a set of gills
It would only take a foot or two to make a tunnel unusable.
No wall of water... just a slow steady rise and soon everyone will just have to get out.
i frankly can’t know how well this will work but it sure looks promising....(It works just FINE on rodents on our land!)
drown all the dam*ed Fakestinian terrorists!!! ASAP!
smiles smiles
Poor strategy. More expensive but more cost effective would be natural gas.
