Despite overwhelming military superiority, Israel is struggling to develop an effective strategy to tackle the tunnel network under Gaza.
This "underworld" has provided Hamas with a degree of sanctuary beyond the gaze of satellites, drones and military forces.
How will Israel defeat Hamas without destroying the tunnel network?
The "Gaza metro" is bigger in scale than the London Underground network. Many of the tunnels were originally dug in the early 1980s to bypass the border between Egypt and Rafah, enabling the illegal smuggling of trade and weapons.
However, they have since been expanded into two further categories: defensive and offensive.
The former is primarily focused on the storage of weapons, logistic supplies (fuel, water and food) and command and control HQs, whereas the latter is an elaborate network of tunnels across the border into Israel to enable Hamas to take small-scale offensive action, and crucially to seize hostages.
Since assuming control of Gaza in 2006, Hamas has taken the development of the tunnel network to a new level.
The soft sandstone under Gaza is conducive to tunnelling, but Hamas has also adapted the network in response to Israel's various attempts to destroy it.
Bunker buster bombs could penetrate deep underground - and if they did not destroy a tunnel directly, the shifting sands would cause nearby tunnels to implode.
By digging the tunnels deeper - the main network is now over 20m (65ft) down rather than around 10m (32ft) for the original tunnels - Hamas made them far more difficult to target and destroy.

Flood them. Even an extensive tunnel network should not be too hard to flood in a few weeks despite any drainage. Just some really big pumps drawing water from the Med should do it. Now that may lead to collapse of some building in Gaza. Oh well. Cry me a river (or in this case a sea).

It’s interesting how the bad guys defeated satellite surveillance with something as simple as tunnels. However in the end game, a tunnel is a death trap.
Having actually worked in government underground facilities, one thing I learned is fresh air is needed and in the case of where I worked it was pumped downstairs with a fan from a huge topside air vent. If the Israelis could find these ventilation shafts they could be plugged.

Nothing I can add that hasn’t already been posted. Gas ‘em, flood ‘em, fill ‘em with bacon fat, blow ‘em up, seed ‘em with thousands of anti-personnel mines, I don’t care. If there are Paleswineans down there, they can come up and surrender if they aren’t ready for their 72 virgins. (I’d kinda rather they didn’t, but I’m humane that way.)

Drown them out. Pump seawater in until you think you’ve gotten all of them. Then pump for another month.

Flooding the tunnels with water is the obvious choice... But a more sensible choice would be flooding them with oil... Then light it on fire and watch them burn.
Gazans don’t have the brain matter to build Gaza or produce anything. They are International Welfare Recipients....that’s who and what they are when they’re not buidling rockets, bombs or throwing stones.
You forgot 1A: Pump in hundreds of gallons of bacon grease, film the operation and release those videos on the internet daily.
