The IDF finished building several large seawater pumps around a mile north of the Al-Shati refugee camp in mid-November, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The pumps, at least five of which have been built, can each pump thousands of cubic feet of water from the Mediterranean Sea into the tunnels per hour, which would lead to them flooding in a matter of weeks.
US officials said Israel first informed them of the plans in early November, though they don't know when or even if the Israeli government would carry out the plans.
One source told the newspaper that the plan would take place over several weeks, meaning that Hamas would have enough time to move all the hostages out of the tunnels.

I know I suggested flooding the tunnels on this forum a couple of years ago. An alternative would be to cut off the ventilation system. I would prefer cutting off the ventilation if there were no hostages. They can still leave the hostages on the lower levels to drown, while they move to higher levels, but they can kill the hostages any time they please for that matter.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. As a proxy of Islam is eliminated, another emerges.
Free Chipotle for a few days.
THEN blow all of that natural effervescence right down the tunnels.
RagTops will be running out right into your sites.
Don’t negotiate for Hostages
Ever.
Better to krill every RagTop that moves.

” but they can kill the hostages any time they please for that matter.”
Or they could leave a dozen hostages inside and have Israel take responsibility for killing them. Thats the Hamas way.
When the savages emerge, fire up the flamethrowers. TAKE NO PRISONERS!

Not only better, it’s the only civilized and morally correct way to deal effectively with savages. Use flamethrowers, take no prisoners.
I love this idea.
The hostages have no value to hamas once they are dead and they only have a fixed number alive today.
Hamas doesn't care about human life, neither their own nor anyone else. A life to them is a bargaining chip, nothing else.
Religion of peace?
Gas the tunnels first. Then flood them.
Sounds like a good plan to me. As an added benefit, nobody can wail and moan like they would if the Israeli’s use gas. The water will simply make the tunnels unusable.
As someone rightly commented on another thread, Jews gassing their enemies might be horrible optics.
I am sure the Israelis have taken that into account. There is little they can do for the hostages except threaten reprisals. Given that they are already committed to killing all the leaders of Hamas, Hamas leaders have little to lose. Making concessions for promises to spare hostages only encourages hostage taking. It is a cold calculation, but rewarding hostage taking only encourages hostage taking.
Western sympathizers - and those who are masking their hostility to Israel as humanitarian concern - who then fetishize hostages only encourage hostage taking.
Let’s send in feral attack pigs...or flood the tunnels with pig guts mixed in.
Oh I get it. But it won’t keep Hamas from doing it anyway. They do it to their own people and get away with it. But Israel will be lambasted in the media all over the world if it happens.
Taking a lesson out of Scipio when Carthage became a pain in the ass.

Hamas was using hostages to buy time for rest and resupply. If they had any more hostages alive they would still be trading them. (There may be some hostages alive but I think Hamas brutilized so much they are reluctant to let them go to tell their story).
Regardless, Israel must act as if there are no hostages. It sounds cruel but the alternative is that Hamas will simple keep taking hostage as long as they believe they can be used at some point.
Flooding the tunnels is the best option at this time.
