Community members in an Arlington neighborhood are being told to shelter in place after police say a flare gun was fired inside a home, causing a massive explosion.
Arlington County police put out the alert just after 8:15 p.m., saying the incident occurred in the 800 block of N. Burlington Street in the Bluemont neighborhood.
Police say as officers were attempting to execute a search warrant at the residence, a suspect fired several rounds inside the home, which led to the explosion.
Arlington Fire and EMS said units are at the scene working to put out the fire.
They tell neighbors to expect a large fire department and police response and ask everyone to avoid the area as officials continue to investigate the circumstances of the explosion.

A flare gun!?
Whoa!
Gas leaks and flare guns don’t mix...?
Maybe busted gas line and shot flare to ignite?
What would cause that, meth lab? Seemed too upscale for that. What was the warrant for?
Quite the explosion. Okay, meth lab, bombs what?
MAGA Exremist.
People are alleging that this is one James Yoo, who has some Norm Chomsky quotes and a real hate of the deep state.
Cool, smoke on the water!
Most people jump to conclusions.
I prefer to wait for the pontoon bridge.

House in Arlington, Virginia, explodes as police attempt to execute search warrant
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground
Nice neighborhood....I lived 2 miles from it about a decade ago. Odd...it is like a minute or two from neighborhood fire station.
Probably a rental property, with a meth crew who moved in.
Something is missing from this story. Something between “flare gun” and “explosion”. I’ve never heard of a flare gun causing an explosion before. A fire maybe, but not an explosion. Maybe with a little research they could have written something alone the lines of “Suspect fires flare gun during search, starting a fire, which caused an explosion after ...’something, something, and something’ (gas, gun powder, an array of chemicals, taco farts, etc)” was ignited”.
Or, maybe there was no explosion at all. Maybe it was an old-fashioned fire caused by the flare gun landing on the curtains or a pile of freshly laundered clothes and the reporter just thought this headline sounded more attention-catching.
Well played...
Yeah, it’s a duplex, they’re saying, and this Yoo fellow filled up his house with gas and shot a flare or had some explosives.
He believed his neighbors were gangstalking him and seems generally insane.
You Who?

Notice the armored vehicle approaching the building before the "event".
