Outspoken actress Susan Sarandon has shared a lengthy apology for her recent controversial comments in response to the Israel—Hamas conflict at a pro-Palestinian rally last month.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who shared the apology on her Instagram account, began the statement: “Recently, I attended a rally alongside a diverse group of activists seeking to highlight the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza and call for a ceasefire. I had not planned to speak but was invited to take the stage and say a few words.”
The statement continued: “Intending to communicate my concern for an increase in hate crimes, I said that Jewish Americans, as the targets of rising antisemitic hate, ‘are getting a taste of what it is like to be Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence,’” Sarandon continued. “This phrasing was a terrible mistake, as it implies that until recently Jews have been strangers to persecution, when the opposite is true. As we all know, from centuries of oppression and genocide in Europe to the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh, PA, Jews have long been familiar with discrimination and religious violence which continues to this day.”
Sarandon concluded her remarks by saying she will continue her commitment to “peace, truth, justice, and compassion for all people.”
“I hope that we can meet with love and willingness to engage in dialogue, especially with those with whom we disagree,” the statement ended.
Sarandon had attended a November 17 pro-Palestinian rally in New York City where she drew widespread criticism for a public speech where she said: “There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.”
The actress was also dropped by her agency, United Talent Agency.
Susan Sarandon has found herself too old for the casting couch decides to try the soap box. Too bad she fell off.
boom
"Your skills are fading with age, Miss Sarandon."
Meh.
Say goodbye to your career, Susan.
Susan Saranazi’s hateful, ill conceived words kinda reminds me when A-list
actress Meryl Streep called serial sex offender, Harvey Weinstein, “a God.”
Harvey went to jail and Meryl has been AWOL since then.
It was the “phrasing”. lol.
This is how you apologize without really apologizing.
Blah,blah.......who gives a crap about this washed up pile of silicone?
Why does anyone place any weight on what an actor or actress says? They are only famous because the say words that someone else writes. Very few have anything substantive to add to any conversation.

Too late so crawl back under your rock
In the opening scene, where it deliberately starts out with completely cheesy and bad puppets, I thought "What have I gotten into?"
By ten minutes into the real movie, I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard!
"Ooops!"
“getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country.”
Yeah because everyday US Muslim’s homes are raided, women are raped and babies are beheaded. That’s why they should all leave and return to their peaceful roots in the Middle East.
Too late
I enjoying this. Her and her a-hole partner Tim Robbins have been spouting their leftist BS for years. She finally said too much
She’s always been such a trouble maker.
Old broad with nice points. That hardly qualifies one as a goe-political expert. People will pay attention though.
Heard you the first time, you worthless sniveling bitch.
Meanwhile, she would gladly help usher MAGA people into extermination camps.
