Why not go to the dealership and avoid the Amazon charge, unless Amazon will tow/deliver the new car, probably through a bad neighborhood, where it will be stolen.

Now that I think about it, maybe Hyandai dealers, are trying to get rid of car salesmen.

Also will Amazon be pushing Hyandai EV"s?

(unless Amazon will deliver the new car)

Comes in a box on your front porch

But, it’s REALLY heavy....

Lots of bubble wrap to play with so that’s cool 😎

How do you test drive it online?

Will it qualify for free delivery? ;)

And how do you return it if dissatisfied?

Is there a discount if the middleman is eliminated? (car dealer, salesman)

A long time CarsDirect (Bill Gross) tried this idea. But Amazon will do it right.

Amazon isn’t selling the cars. Hyundai dealers can sell cars on Amazon, so maybe you can still test drive, etc.

It’s probably like how Costco sells cars.

“, unless Amazon will tow/deliver the new car, probably through a bad neighborhood, where it will be stolen.”

Per the article Amazon does not handle the car.

Hyundai will be an Amazon Associate selling through Amazon Marketplace (at least they used to be called "associates").

Amazon isn't involved except to market the product of a third-party seller.

There is nothing unusual about delivering cars that have been sold online. In fact, Teslas can be bought online (IIRC Tesla has only 160 stores in the U.S.). And they deliver. Repairmen even come to your home if necessary.

.......The World is ever changing and this appears to be one of those.....

Hyundai said that initially only 15 to 20 dealers will be able to sell their vehicles on Amazon, but that it will expand it to more by the end of next year. “Is this going to help us sell more cars? We believe so,” said Muñoz.

More EV buyers in 2022 were open to the idea of buying a car fully online compared with gas-powered vehicle buyers, according to a study from Cox Automotive, an industry-research firm.

“What we see here is a highly competitive industry, but that is also edging towards e-commerce and we really think we can help customers here,” Fan Jin, Amazon’s director of vehicle sales said at the auto show. Jin declined to say how Amazon would make money on vehicle sales.

Los Angeles-based auto dealer Mike Sullivan says he has made e-commerce sales and home deliveries for years. But the new partnership between Amazon and Hyundai will help him better serve the needs of today’s customers.

Ford has adopted new rules for U.S. dealers looking to sell the company’s electric vehicles, including requiring no-haggle pricing. The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker’s chief executive, Jim Farley, has been particularly outspoken about the need to revamp how cars are sold, saying the direct sales approach can save about $2,000 a vehicle.

Ford plans to provide EV customers with more flexible purchases online starting next year, with transparent pricing and remote vehicle delivery, executives have said.

I went to a ford dealer to buy a new car. We all know how inflated car prices have gotten especially this last year or two. But what killed the deal was the extra charge ($50,400!) the dealer demanded on top of the regular asking price in the sticker. Needless to say, we left and will never go back.
These local dealers csn mosyly be replaced just fine by direct online sales by the car makers. If they want to use Amazon I think it is an unnecessary middleman but ok still a zillion times better then the highway robbery (pun intended) at some car dealers today m
I’d be helly yo buy the car on a ford website

I bought a truck through the old auto by tel program. I submitted the order. The nearby auto by tel GM dealer called me to verify. I was informed when the truck was ready. I got a ride to the dealership and picked it up. This Amazon deal is similar. You still have to mess with a dealer. It is required by law in most states to buy from a dealer.

My rural mail delivery person couldn’t even deliver my deer feeder because it wouldn’t fit in her car. How is she going to deliver my new Hyundai? In fine Amazon tradition, how many boxes will it come in?
