Hyundai Motor customers who want to skip the dealership will have a new option next year: shopping on Amazon.com.

The Korean automaker announced the move Thursday with Amazon at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Starting in 2024, U.S. auto dealers will be able to sell vehicles on the tech company’s platform, making Hyundai the first automotive brand to offer such an option for customers

You can tell by their styling that Hyundai is willing to take a risk.

Now put that together with “porch pirates” and the rash of thefts out of Amazon delivery trucks...

Sounds like a match made in Heaven (for the thieves).

My rural mail delivery person couldn’t even deliver my deer feeder because it wouldn’t fit in her car. How is she going to deliver my new Hyundai? In fine Amazon tradition, how many boxes will it come in?

I’ve been eyeing the new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. Completely new body style from current models. More squared off. Similar to a Land Rover or even the Ford Flex. I like the utilitarian look (and interior cargo space) and would be great for migrating back and forth as a snow bird.

Being able to deal with Amazon instead of some sleazy car salesman might be a refreshing change.

We have had thousands of them stolen each year. I personally know several people who have been the victims of this, and I have personally seen these "Kia Boys" thieves driving erratically swerving back and forth with their friends sitting on the car's open window sills.

So criminals figure out how to bypass keys and steal cars, and the victims are at fault!

Blaming the car company for what thieves do is real social engineering!

“Most Hundai/Kia’s on the road today have a design mistake that allows them to be stolen with a USB cable, which the company refused to fix or recall.”

WRONG! It is Hyundai, not Hundai.

And they are providing a free software upgrade to all affected vehicles.

“When you call up your Hyundai on Amazon, will it suggest that USB cable as a popular accessory fow when you lock yourelf out of your car?”

I am not sure what point you are trying to make. There are no external USB connectors.

They fixed it.

Potential $145,000,000 Hyundai class action settlement announced tonight; finalized in March 2024. DON’T buy a Hyundai unless you want it stolen, broken in to, and can’t find insurance coverage.

“Now that I think about it, maybe Hyandai dealers, are trying to get rid of car salesmen”

There may be something to that. I went shopping for a car 3 years ago, and wanted to check out a particular hyundai model. I made an appointment, arrived on time and waited about 15 minutes, then left. The salesman never showed up, despite the guy at the counter telling me he would be there any minute. I got impatient and left. I told the counterdude to tell the guy he missed a good chance of making a sale.

I ended up getting a Toyota Highlander. I like it.

“I ended up getting a Toyota Highlander. I like it.”

We bought a Highlander years ago. Bought a newer one (2007) later and gave the old one to wife’s daughter.

Bought a Lexus GX 460 Jan. 2014. Traded in Highlander #1 after trading 2007 Highlander for #1.

We are still driving GX and daughter is still driving 2007.

None were in for other than routine maintenance.

Good point. You have to get inside the Hyundai to steal it with a USB cable.

Hi!
We wouldn’t be able to pay MSRP for that car nowadays, either, not with the dealer demanding $50,400 EXTRA above MSRP for it.
Ha!
Besides, we will never return. A new car for us is not a necessity, far from it. It was, if you like, like that tasty candy bar at the grocery checkout. Something we can pass up just fine, thank you. Just like the majority of new car purchases...smiles smiles smiles
Thanks
