RNC warns candidates that attending Iowa Christian group’s forum will disqualify them from debates

The Republican National Committee has warned some of the 2024 GOP presidential candidates about attending an Iowa Christian organization’s Thanksgiving forum, saying it would disqualify them from participating in future RNC presidential debates.

Five candidates – former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott – were invited to the Family Leader’s “Thanksgiving Family Forum” on November 17.

“It has come to the attention of the RNC Counsel’s Office that several Republican presidential candidates have been invited to participate in an open-press event in Iowa in November at which they would ‘gather around the table to have a moderated, friendly, and open discussion about the issues.’ In other words, a debate,” the RNC counsel’s office said in a letter obtained by CNN.

“Accordingly, please be advised that any Republican presidential candidate who participates in this or other similar events will be deemed to have violated this pledge and will be disqualified from taking part in any future RNC-sanctioned presidential primary debates,” the office said.

In its letter, dated October 28, the office reminded the candidates that they had agreed not to participate in any non-RNC-sanctioned debates during the campaign.

Trump actually did not endorse McRomney. This was something started by someone and had legs. He stayed neutral.

Trump should have had his own candidate to go after her.

He didn’t pick one. The RNC always picks who they want. Endorsements mean little regarding this. That is why the head of the RNC is usually pretty rotten.

There was Reince Pribus. Remember Michael Steele? He is a darling over on MSNBC or some RAT channel now.

Yep, doesn’t look like I will have a party to vote for. That would be fine if there were no parties. But there are.

Oh Noes!
The GOP frontrunner doesn’t care and hasn’t attended any of your midget diabetes.

The RNC has zero control over the 45th President

So, move all debates totally out of control of the RNC. The wannabe tyrant in charge needs to be told to piss off. Especially the way she reacted to Vivek’s comments at the debate.

Unless this group is disreputable (which it doesn’t appear as such) there is no reason to not allow them to go.

They should all go and then see if the RNC actually cancels all of their future debates...bet they won’t.

The man was a pure technocrat who was good at organizing and fundraising...which is what the RNC should do (his skill set was not suited at all to be WH Chief of Staff...). McDaniel, and / or the people she has hired...has been inept at the organizing part especially.

I remember Michael Steele all too well...he basically burned the place to the ground...Reince Priebus rebuilt it in record time...best GOTV effort and organization in 2016 the party ever had. Should have been left there vs. moving to WH Chief of Staff.

Trump installed McDaniel after Priebus left. The incumbent president generally picks the RNC chair if Republican hold the White House. They still go through the formal process but otherwise the choice is theirs.
