Donald Trump appeared on the Clay & Buck show, and the host (I don’t know whether Clay or Buck) asked Trump if he’d consider Tucker as a running mate. After waffling along for a while about the number of viewers he got when he talked to Tucker (very high), compared to viewership for the Republican debates (very low), Trump finally said he would consider Tucker because the latter has “great common sense.” That’s true but Tucker has something even more important: He’s a remarkably gifted communicator in ways that Trump is not.
In his own way, Trump is a very gifted communicator, which is why he was one of the most popular entertainers in America. He has the ability to drive points home through vivid language. “Build a wall.” “Sleepy Joe.” “Low energy Jeb.” None of them are clever phrases because they have wit, rhymes, or alliteration.
In other words, Trump will never be Winston Churchill. After all, when Harry Truman said of Clement Attlee, who replaced Churchill at 10 Downing Street, “He seems a modest sort of fellow,” Churchill’s instant response was “He’s got a lot to be modest about.” He also memorably called Ramsay MacDonald “a sheep in sheep’s clothing.” One delights in Churchill’s quips. That’s not Trump.
But in his own way, Trump has a remarkable ability to carry people along with his ideas. What Trump cannot do is defend those ideas with any depth or even coherence. He waffles along, as he did in the video above where, instead of just answering the question, he first boasts about his ratings and attacks his opponents’ ratings. It’s a maddeningly indirect style of speech.
Many feel (I among them) that this rambling style gets in the way of conveying important ideas to Americans during incredibly fraught times.

No.
Oh my goodness JUST NO!
The fact that Trump didn’t bring up the idea himself means that he wasn’t thinking about it, and the fact that he “waffled” means that he doesn’t really want to do it.
As Jesse Kelly points out to his audience, the right running mate is going to be somebody you don’t like (and he doesn’t like either). It’s not going to be somebody who’s a copy of Trump and doesn’t bring in votes that Trump doesn’t already have. It’s going to be somebody different from Trump, somebody who does bring in votes that Trump otherwise wouldn’t have received. Hate Pence all you like, but he was the right running mate for Trump. Kari Lake definitely wouldn’t be.
no ... although he would be better than stinky nikki ...
Whoever DJT chooses, they must be unabashed and fierce defenders of MAGA.
No more phony conservatives, half-stepping through their term of office, just waiting to deliver the voters back into the hands of the RINOs.
President Reagan was popular and successful, but the poison pill was G H W Bush, a class A, gold plated RINO, who oversaw the destruction of our republic with his New World Order. Much of what Trump tried to achieve was undoing the horrible, anti American path chosen by the Neo Cons.
Choosing the right running mate is the most crucial test of a candidate, as we’ve seen with the hapless Mike Pence.
He’d take a ~~$7 million wage cut?
I agree with Tucker about a lot of things but he’s vulnerable to attacks as a privileged bow tie boy. He may also go off the reservation or lose focus as much as Trump does. In any case, he’s not going to win over suburban moms and young women. He’s seems like one of the guys they are bound to hate.
Trump/Gaetz
He's no longer employed by Fox. Does Elon pay him for his current Twitter/X content?
I'm definitely a Tucker fan, and want for him to keep doing what he does so well. I'd be happy if Fox hired him back with a big apology and a raise.
What cares he’s white? Divide and pander is the Democrats game. What hope do Republicans have of out-duelling them on their home ground?
No
That's quite an assumption.
The president may not have a list at this point, and even if he did he most certainly wouldn't want to comment on it at this time.
Pretty standard approach.
I think Trump will pick Mike Pompeo ...
Sounds more like the job for a press secretary
The only problem is nobody with any virtue or good sense should want the job. But we would be very lucky if he did.
>>>What cares he’s white? Divide and pander is the Democrats game. What hope do Republicans have of out-duelling them on their home ground?<<<
That is sort of my point. I can’t think of a super talented conservative running mate for Donald that is a minority. And for that matter, the list of white candidates isn’t that long either. I would really enjoy someone like Rand Paul, but that might be like oil and water.
NO!
Tucker once again needs his own wide exposure mega media show where he controls the agenda and exposes corrupt çols.
Put him in a political uniform and he is automatically tainted.
