Democrats in Virginia on Tuesday night retained their majority in the state Senate — a blow to Republicans who were hoping to achieve total control of the state legislature and boost Gov. Glenn Youngkin in his final two years in office.

The GOP also lost control of Virginia’s House of Delegates, with Democrats set to win at least 51 seats in the 100-member lower chamber.

The overturning of Roe wasn’t the issue. It rightfully returned it to the States.

But then Miss Lindsey opened her pie-hole and floated the Federal Abortion Ban, and that was all she wrote!

In the Va delegate race, there were 4 or 5 races that had no republican challengers. The Dems ran unopposed Certainly we could have fielded and ran at least 2 winning candates out of those 5 or so which would have nudged the house back to the republicans. There were several Democrats unopposed in the senate race as well. Just a coup;e of wins of those would have allowed the race to go to the Pubbies. The Pubbies just gave it to the Dems in this state.

Trump has driven the Republican Party off a cliff the last 5 years.

The only big winner we’ve seen in all that time was DeSantis is 2022, but according to Trump we’re supposed to hate him.

Pick whoever you want. Just expect to keep losing so long as Trump is our brand name.

Republicans want the perks, without the responsibility.

“Rural voters have better things to do than to waste time on a fraudulent exercise.”

Yup—Republicans are refusing to fight voter fraud so why should anyone fight for them.

McCain and Romney already drove it over the cliff.

Trump’s rise on the nation’s political scene can be directly attributed to the revulsion many voters felt when they lived through one election after another where the “better candidate” turned out to be a corrupt, feckless @sshole.

I would attribute the abysmal failure of Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign to this exact phenomenon.

Old men. Time to go young again with DeSantis. Trump only got in due to Obama/Hillary fatigue, and the history of the party of two term Presidents always losing. He’s just a major drag at this point, on everything.

Trump’s rise on the nation’s political scene can be directly attributed to...

The hatred of Hillary was greater than the hatred of Trump, at that point. He still barely won with a historically low vote %. Hey I was a big supporter of him at the time. But probably more because I didn't want Hillary in, like millions of others.

But at this point, Trump is the new Hillary. Someone that people are sick of, but who still feels they are entitled to the Presidency.

Yes, it was rightfully returned to the states. But that meant state politics became way more important to the pro-abortion crowd. Previously, an anti-abortion Republican running for state office could easily say his or her personal views on abortion were irrelevant because states had no power over the abortion issue.

He is the only one who can overcome the fraud thanks to his incredible popularity in unison with Bidens absolutely horrible term in office. Folks still remember how great 2017,2018 and 2019 were , thanks to Trumps policies, even if they dont admit it aloud

Looks like you struck a nerve. The truth is too painful to some people so they have to lash out.

These were districts in which a Republican could not win. The Republicans focused their energy and money on races that were winnable. This election cycle was made much more difficult because of a recent statewide redistricting that resulted in new elections for every member of the house and senate. At the time of the redistricting, pretty much everyone who pays attention to these things concluded it would favor the Democrats.

Who is voting for RINOs? Republicans mostly? Seems like thats the problem. You have GOP voters voting for democrats in disguise. Shouldnt be easy for a incumbent RINO to be bounced by a more fundamentally conservative candidate? Maybe folks are just stupid.

We could have fielded candidates and forced the Dems to spend less money in other races where the Pubbies had a theoretcial shot so that these other races weren’t just “gimees”. This is how the Dems picked up delegate seats in 21. In my area all my pubbie people won. I voted and did what I could do.
