Voters across the country headed to the polls Tuesday to weigh in on a slew of statewide and local elections that could serve as a bellwether for next year’s congressional and White House races.

Virginia Democrats have gained full control of both of the state’s legislature bodies, dealing a major blow to Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s agenda in a race seen as an indicator of Democrats’ strength heading into 2024.

And then complain about, blame Republicans, who are in control of nothing, but vote to take from everyone else. Welcome to the new oligarchy

A lot of people on this forum fit the latter part of your comment. And then they only blame cheating for the result.

Virginia has turned into New York State. The New York State Legislature consists of an almost 3-1 Democrat majority.

Youngkin may be too moderate, but he wasn’t the candidate on the ballots in Virginia.

The Republican candidates were a heck of a lot more conservative that the Democrats in every race. If wanting a harder conservative is keeping voters from voting Republican, I doubt conservatives will ever win anything.

Besides, this has been happening all over for several years. We think conservatives have the better positions and abortion advocates get out the votes.

We need to check out the problem and fix it. I don’t have a solution, but I know it isn’t the character of the candidates. It’s the effectiveness of the party.

That’s because NY is a complete disaster. Virginia is not there yet.

If candidates give up their conservative principles in order to win, what is the point?

Wasnt he going to moderately sweep through the country becauae Trump is so toxic. Republicans need to fight as a team to win. Im sure Mitch is kneecapping candidates.

Cant have the base by trying to destroy their champion. To be fair and consistent, MAGA needs to find some common ground with RINOs but the RINOs need to accept that Trump is the leader.

If candidates give up their conservative principles in order to win, what is the point?

If the GOP primary polling is remotely true, conservatives have already given up their principles.

What is “conservative”?

Ask ten people, you get ten different answers.

Voter fraud costs money.

Your "it's all rigged!" thesis is incoherent. This alleged "voter fraud," however you fantasize it may be getting accomplished, would cost far less than developing and running effective ads, marshalling one's base, getting out the vote, all those run-of-the-mill political activities that require, you know, actual effort.

The Dems win for two basic reasons. One, they outwork the GOP for the most part. Two, there are now more people in this country who support the Dem agenda than support the GOP agenda. It's time for those who don't understand this simple reality to pull their heads out of their asses and grow up.

It’s TikTok and Google. They are behind the scenes energizing democrat voters. And ONLY democrat voters.

To Democrats, Government is the be-all end-all of their existence.

To us, Government is a nuisance, we’d rather not have to deal with.

Louisiana is a pretty small state that has low immigration. Democrats controlled the governorship for most of the past 30 years.

Virginia more closely resembles America as a whole.

After tonight, we’ve lost more state-wide elections than we’ve won. And we lose most of the referenda too. Abortion prevailed in KANSAS for Chrissake.

In any case, state elections aren’t much of a harbinger for national elections anymore.

But can I say I DO admire your hope. Wish I could be that way. But American voters have let me down too many times now.
