Ohio Exit Poll on Abortion Way Out of Step With National Polling Data
Life News | November 7, 2023 | Steven Ertelt

Posted on 11/07/2023 4:50:46 PM PST by Morgana

CNN has released the results of exit polling in today’s vote on issue 1 and the polling data looks considerably skewed from national polling over the course of the last few years.

According to the CNN data, the electorate today supported abortion in what has been turning into more of a red state over the years – even though national polling data shows more Americans are pro-life than pro-abortion.

The Ohio electorate turning out for the vote largely favors legal abortion – roughly 3 in 10 say the procedure should be legal in all cases and about a third that it should be legal in most cases, similar to the 2022 electorate.

About 3 in 10 say it should be legal in all cases, and about one-tenth that it should never be legal, but the majority of the electorate stands somewhere in between. Notably, while Democrats lead Republicans when it comes to which party voters trust to handle abortion, it’s by only a single-digit margin.

Meanwhile, voters who turned out in favor of Issue 1 (and voted “yes”) hold strong views on abortion and Roe, more so than those who turned out in opposition (and voted “no”).

About 6 in 10 “yes” voters say they’re angry that Roe was overturned, compared with only about 4 in 10 “no” voters who say they are enthusiastic about the decision. And while roughly half of “yes” voters say abortion should always be legal, only about one-quarter of “no” voters want it to be illegal in all circumstances.

Those results differ from Gallup’s polling that it conducted this summer.

As Gallup notes, “Specifically, close to half of Americans, 47%, now say abortion should be legal in all (34%) or most (13%) circumstances, while a similar proportion, 49%, want it legal in only a few (36%) or illegal in all (13%) circumstances.”

That means 49 percent of Americans take a pro-life position opposing all or most abortions while a lower 47% take a pro-abortion position supporting all or most abortions.

So why does CNN have the results at 61% pro-abortion and Gallup at 47% pro-abortion?

First, even though Americans are still nominally pro-life overall, radical abortion activists are more angry that Roe was overturned than pro-life voters are happy about the Dobbs decision overturning it. That results in more abortion advocates turning out to the polls to vote for abortion because the smaller poll of pro-abortion voters are more incentivized to vote than the slightly larger poll of pro-life voters.

Secondly, Ohio voters also voted today on a ballot measure to legalize marijuana. That very likely increased turnout of liberal voters who were more likely to vote for abortion.

Third, the pro-abortion side dominated fundraising – with reports towards the end of the election showing that they had 3-1 fundraising advantage over pro-life groups. The out of state dark money and millions from leftists like George Soros, the ACLU and Planned Parenthood allowed the pro-abortion side to dominate TV and online with blatantly false commercials that further angered liberal voters and drove them to the polls in higher numbers.

To counter this, pro-life groups need to a) emphasize the great thigs Dobbs accomplished – from saving babies to helping women, b) engage in more work to identify and turn out voters in elections, c) do more to fundraise and find large donors who can help the prolife movement overcome the massive fundraising disparity so it can counter the avalanche of false ads.

Those aborted would grow up to be democrat voters and welfare dependents. Now they’ll just import them.

The pro-life movement needs to change its message.
Pro-abort messaging of today states women are losing their right to abort their unborn child.
The new pro-life messaging needs to be about providing the unborn w their constitutionally guaranteed human right to exist.
History, as framed today, states the Civil War was fought to end slavery, but in fact, the majority of those joining the Union Army did so as Christians with the intent of providing slaves their constitutionally guaranteed God Given human rights.
This analogy to slavery is a winner.
This augment does not fall into the trap of denying women a right.
This augment is an affirmation of the unborn’ constitutionally guaranteed human right to be born.

Tragically, the pro abortion forces in Ohio have prevailed.

Regrettably, the SCOTUS decision sending the baby killing back to the states is backfiring and making it extremely difficult for republicans to win.

It especially doesn’t help when it appears that our side doesn’t GOTV in sufficient numbers according to what I’ve ascertained.

The right hasn’t even TRIED to be nearly as united as the left has been. The last time the right was even remotely united by GHW Bush and if not him, then Reagan’s 2nd term.

Everything is about being the most conservative and conservative purity. That’s great to say, but this isn’t a conservative country anymore. It is in certain areas, but those certain areas won’t win majorities.

The left gave up on that in 1992 when they ran Clinton. They know they’ll gradually get what they want but they figured out to get anything like what you want, you have to be in position to make it happen. They ran crappy candidates in 2000 and 2004 and then the uber-crappiest candidate ever in Killary.

The right has abjectly failed to play this game since Gingrich in the 1994 midterms.

Principles are great, but they don’t win elections anymore. Sad but true.

We may be screwed - it’s entirely possible.

What sucks is no one really tried to beat the left at the game that the GOP/Conservatives invented with the Contract with America since that point in time. The TEA party kind of did, but it was more of a tantrum than a movement. The only one that came close was Trump but he couldn’t help himself sometimes.

Screw it, I’m Pro-Choice now. The more liberals who abort, the better.

Very disappointed in the votes in Ohio tonight, although it was totally expected. Satan is gleefully running around tonight laughing about how he won, but he does not have the victory.

I feel very sorry for the deceived tonight. Thinking that killing babies (and selling dead baby organs and limbs) is a win! You really have to just shake your head.

I know many people who say they are Christians (they are mostly of the Catholic persuasion) yet they voted for a constitutional amendment to kill babies up until birth. It will be interesting to watch as they next rationalize killing human beings after they are born with euthanasia, because that is the next step.

They will be very sorry when they realize what they have done. I am very sad for them.

Now, Ohio has literally gone to POT, legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, joining almost half of the country.

Our entire social and moral fabric has been ripped to shreds.

I just pray that all of this doesn’t portend PDJT’s fate a year from now.

Pretty sure most pro-life people are framing it as we don’t want babies killed in the womb because they have a constitutionally guaranteed human right to exist once they are created.

It’s the ‘rat left that is framing abortion as a woman’s right to choose (to kill her unwanted baby). The reprobate left’s argument for abortion is revolting.

On the contrary, getting abortionfanticide and weed off the ballot for ‘24 helps PDJT.

There is no longer a battle cry for the baby murderers and weed addicts. The most they will try is a feminazi screech if Cankles get nominated at the convention, or somehow Brandon keels over and HeelsUp manages to be the nominee.

Cankles and HeelsUp are HUGE incentives for the radical feminazi vote... but most normal people can’t stand either them.

So, doing abortionfanticide and weed in 2023 will end up costing the ‘rats votes in ‘24.

Every abortion referendum loses.

Of course they do. 2020 taught us that the left will make sure their key issues and candidates win by any means necessary.

Pro-choice does not necessarily equal pro-abortion.

Not in Ohio. Abortionfanticide is enshrined in the constitution. No limits.

It’s off the ballot in ‘24, as is weed.

The left has lost Ohio for the ‘24 presidential election. Which they did in ‘20 (a bellwether state), yet they still stole the election.

It will be fun to do see how they do it this time!

Screw it, I never want to hear about abortion again.

You want to lose your soul and get an abortion, go right ahead, it’s your soul, not mine!

I’m sick of losing to these turds because of that stupid issue.

Most Anericans don’t wanna be told what they cant do, even if its killing babies. Throw in the Ohio republican shenanigans earlier by trying to not allow people to vote on it, this had women around the block ready to vote.

Disagree - dems are already pushing the “GOP will ban at federal level” story.

There is 100% certainty that dems will push ads hard in Ohio saying if you vote for GOP Pres/Senate/Rep abortion will be banned in Ohio.

[About 6 in 10 “yes” voters say they’re angry that Roe was overturned]

[It’s another bellwether on God’s destroying New Babylon America (or not).

Stay tuned!]

Unfortunately, that's true in a lot of ways. With echoes of potential World War III, you'd think that the world would wake up. It appears not; overwhelmingly.

And they knew not.....(tagline)
