They’ll later develop a stand alone Ukraine bill...with a lower number...a bunch of “safeguards” and “accounting demands” etc.

There will also be a separate DOD “replenishment” bill to replace all the equipment sent to Ukraine...

DOD replenishment is certain to pass, easily.

The Ukraine bill will be a challenge, at least.

Nice try Biden...

I don't see where the Senate and Whitehouse have any choice. Bet Schumer is grinding his teeth.

I feel like if they can get it passed then YES it’s a victory. It will force the democrats to stand with israel or against it. And the rino’s too will need to make a stand. There will be a lot of jew hating democrats that will need to swallow a pill to vote for this one, and a few republicans too i might add.

No, he is separating Israel from other funding which is good in that we can see who votes for or against. It doesn’t stop the money flow to foreign countries though. Just why are we sending Israel more funding over the current 3.8 billion they get every year?

People here in America are being invaded by every country in the world. Food prices up, gasoline up, people are getting dumped off health coverage etc. Perhaps Mr Johnson could put Americans at the front of the line seeing how it is Americans footing the bills.

The Ukraine funding is a whole different thing. That needs to stop ASAP.

Has anyone formally and officially thanked Pelosi and the Democrats for their assistance in getting our new SOTH elected? We couldnt have done it without them.

No, a victory would be addressing our borders, and our crime.

We send Israel $3.3 billion every year for defense plus this year another $500 million for missile defenses, why do we need to send them more of our taxpayer’s money?

Johnson has already said he sees Ukraine under attack by monsters, just like Israel

Ukraine will get their funding ... the house will not surrender to Russia

Russo-stooges to be very saddened

I’m philosophically opposed to giving taxpayer money to foreign governments for any reason. But I’m glad this won’t be tied to that clusterflop in Ukraine.

I don’t know how all this will play out regarding Ukraine funding in this particular instance, but IMO ALL bills should be stand alone bills. This bundling of separate issues into giant omnibus bills is a large part of the dis function in Congress. If something is important enough to fund, it is important enough to have legislative action and debate about the issue without adding all kinds of unrelated crap to a proposed bill. All the bundling does is give legislators cover for voting for bills that otherwise would not (and should not) pass on their own merits.

For example, you bundle something like “no Medicare or Medicaid funding for states that have certain restrictions on abortion” with “increased pay for active duty troops” and legislators are faced with the dilemma of either voting in favor of a bill that will increase abortions or be accused of voting against paying our active duty troops. Each of these should be considered separately on its own merits. Too often unrelated issues are shoved together to get unpopular bills passed.

More of the same.

“There are lots of things going on around the world that we have to address, and we will.”

Now I know why he got in easily.

This is no “victory”, because there should be no Israel-funding bill, no Ukrainian funding bill, no overseas funding bill of any kind. The USA needs its money here at home, helping US citizens, repairing the US infrastructure, not giving away our money to overseas governments. Let sovereign nations support themselves.

This is a huge victory, not just because of no Ukraine funding. It’s a victory because it means we finally have a Speaker who gets it that issues must be voted on separately, not lumped together.

Lumping everything into an omnibus bill favors big spenders in congress and the lobbyists that own them. With omnibus bills, a representative cannot pick and choose items according to his constituents’ wishes, which allows big spenders hold one item hostage to another.

This issue of single-item bills vs omnibus bills is the whole reason Matt Gaetz and friends rebelled against McCarthy in the first place.

Notable to me was just how many Congressionals remained seated, on the CSPAN camera, during Mike’s $upportive remark$ for directing more gazillions to Reich-affectionate vacume called UKRAINE.

The camera focused from behind the Congressionals, panned over to the unified standing applause of Dimocrats, but also captured a narrower focus of the first few rows near the aisle, of Republicans roaring with the Dims.

Surprisingly, in the condensed shot of R’s, how many remained seated on funding funny money (borrowed from China) to UKR.
