18 dead, 13 wounded in Lewiston shootings as police continue to search for suspected gunman BY JOHN TERHUNESTAFF WRITER
At a press conference Thursday morning, police continued to offer few details about the manhunt for Robert Card of Bowdoin, who is suspected of killing 18 people Wednesday night.
Gov. Janet Mills and law enforcement leaders pledged Thursday morning to capture the Bowdoin man suspected of killing 18 people and wounding 13 in a pair of shootings in Lewiston on Wednesday night, but they again refused to provide specific information about the massive manhunt for the killer.
“We’re in the early stages of this investigation,” Maine State Police Colonel William Ross said at a press conference at Lewiston Town Hall. “We can’t share all of our information right now, and I’m sure you understand that. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.”
Six men and one woman were killed at Just-In-Time Recreation, the site of the first shooting, Ross said Thursday. Seven men were killed inside Schemengees Bar & Grille, and another was fatally shot outside the restaurant. Three more victims died after being transferred to local hospitals.

Warnings to shelter-in-place soon expanded from Lewiston to all of Androscoggin County as police hunted for the suspect, who police believe abandoned his car near the Lisbon boat dock on Frost Hill Avenue near Route 196. Police were knocking on doors of nearby homes while helicopters remained in the area Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Police, meh. I work in an office building with about 12 individuals. There are at least 8 guns here. Anyone who chooses can bring one. No questions asked.

I have an unconfirmed report that Cabella’s in Scarborough Maine has a line around the building of people wanting to buy a fire arm.
True in Maine as well as Idaho with the limitation that you have to be 21 years old, or for 18 to 20 year olds have a concealed carry permit or be on active duty or a veteran of military service.
No time spent explaining why they have not located the shooter, or what everyone should do about that.
Strangely they claimed to have not identified ten of the victims yet.
For some reason the reporters present thought the most important question was not "Where is the shooter and when will you capture them?".

Maine isn’t Texas? Ya mean like Uvalde Texas?
You forget that Uvalde was due to a blue Dem police chief and his cops who kept everyone out. And you also forget that not long ago some idiot decided to shoot up a mall in Texas and was promptly shot by the cops.
Also, for Uvalde, I refer you to the various Federal laws disarming people in a school.
What about the New York State Police?
He had, in fact, been referred to the facility on July 16 after “behaving erratically” while in training at the United States Military Academy, a spokesperson for the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs told The Daily Beast“Out of concern for his safety, the unit requested that law enforcement be contacted,” the spokesperson said. “New York State Police responded and transported Card to Keller Army Community Hospital at the United States Military Academy for medical evaluation.”
When the NY State Police "transported" him to the US Military Academy for "medical evaluation," did they have him under arrest (for his own, and their, protection?). Or, did he simply hop in the back of their car so they could take him to the mental hospital?
If they had him under arrest, then wouldn't Maine's "yellow flag" law come into play...meaning, law enforcement should have removed guns from his possession?

Why did they keep reporting 22 confirmed dead all last night?
