An all-female combat unit of just 13 soldiers from the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) took on and killed nearly 100 Hamas gunmen when they fought off a terror attack on an army base and helped liberate a kibbutz, it has emerged.
Lieutenant Colonel Or Ben Yehuda and her 12 women soldiers of the Caracal Battalion led the frontline fightback from armoured personnel carriers after racing to a military post on the Egyptian border that was being attacked during the Hamas onslaught.
With rockets raining down all around her, she learned that the terrorists had broken through Israel's border fence with the Gaza Strip and were heading for the Jewish settlements of Shlomit and Bnei Netzer on October 7.

My point is NOT that no woman can fight, but that we shouldn’t put women into ground combat roles. Because even in this case, there was NOTHING they did that couldn’t be done by men as well or better.
Combat is not just shooting. It involves sustained operations and deployments. And those operations often involve upper body strength.
Also, there are some oddities about the accounts of Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko. What she did and what she REALLY did could be very different. The Soviets were very active propogandists, and we essentially have just their word on what happened.
Women in defense of home is a completely different beast than women invading, for multiple reasons.
I saw a small bit on an Israeli woman in the US who was returning to Israel to “fight”. Mid-twenties. I didn’t think too much of it at the time because she said she would be serving a non-combat role, but if she had to she would do that too.
....lol, I agree. I wouldn’t want to break into a home and be facing a woman with a gun in her hand and her kids nearby.
Particularly if she knows how to use it. My son in law, an attorney, and a liberal, just bought a gun for home protection. A 2.5 earthquake happened when he paid for it.
Are you sure? Positive? Or are you just guessing? They all look Eastern European or Russian to me. You can hire one for $500 and get all you want to include a picture of them posing as IDF. It all comes down to optics and eye appeal. Although the disclaimer is they rarely bathe and stink a little but nothing a pocket of quarters and a good car wash will not cure.
Exactly. Women on their own turf are dangerous foes, by very nature.
European women staffed the walls of castles in the Middle Ages. It’s just a completely different thing than marching into battle.
There won’t be women in spear tip combat roles going into Gaza.
But cross the border? Good luck, Mohammed. Enjoy your virgins.
I remember reading accounts of French resistance female snipers killing many Nazi soldiers in Paris, also renowned for their shooting skills.
There are plenty of female Israeli soldiers, but even the article said that the 13-woman unit was supported by Shayetet 13.
This reminds me of the propaganda that was spread last year about an all LGBTQ-battalion in Ukraine who wore a unicorn patch as their insignia. This type of reporting is designed to a) humiliate Muslims b) gain support of social justice leftists in the West who see the military (and now military interventionism) as social cause.
L What is your end game? Truth, or your own propaganda? I went to the actual article, and there is no pictures of all these women except the one Lt Col. who commands their element. She looks Israeli to me. Where are you seeing these pictures of them?
You sound bitterly biased against Eastern European, Russian and Israeli women. You are basically calling them whores (You can hire one for $500 and get all you want). ALL I want means what, exactly?
Free Republic sure has gone downhill with such comments.
Females can shoot like a man, they just can’t do everything else like a man.
If you are training snipers to shoot targets within areas that are easily accessible then women can do it, although remember that the death of your young women kills your tribe anyway since you won’t have a population, but if you are going to send snipers on missions with 160-pound packs then you are back to the limitations of the female.
A lot of the shooting we saw Chris Kyle doing could have been done by a female Chris Kyle, it was basically pure shooting where food, shelter, and support were close by, but as a military sniper, Kyle was capable of getting to places, carrying gear, and doing things to get into position for a shot, that a female can’t do.
I’m also curious about what Slingwing is posting about.
He is apparently unaware that all Israeli women, with some exceptions, are drafted into the IDF just like the men. Some women now serve in combat units. None of the foregoing has anything to do with propagandizing Hamas. It’s just a fact of life in Israel.
There has always been a lot of confusion, exaggeration, and liberal dishonesty about the actual, real-life reality of females in the Jewish military.
It seems almost impossible to pin it down but occasionally an Israeli writer will tell us our perceptions are wrong, sort of like Americans having the perception that Israel has loose gun laws and has a well-armed citizenry.
You can’t possibly read that headline and the fine print and not think that there is propagandizing going on here.
Did you miss the part where Shayetet 13 showed up?
Amazing peoples’ ability to not spot propaganda even after 2020.
Yes, “helped” liberate the kibbutz is an obvious statement. I don’t know why stories about Israeli women soldiers defending their homeland is so threatening to some. The dismissive and mocking comments started immediately.
When I read the article on Daily Mail, “The Female of the Species” by Kipling popped into my head.
