Nearly 5,000 people sent in an SMS "voting" for Hillary Clinton after a man the US Office of Public Affairs characterized as a "social media influencer" promoted it as an option.
According to the Department of Justice (DoJ), Douglass Mackey, who is also known as Ricky Vaughn, was this week sentenced to seven months in prison and handed a $15,000 fine for trying to trick voters into believing they could vote by text message.
The Florida man (no, not that one) had faced up to 10 years for his scheme to deprive American citizens of their constitutional right to vote.
Breon Peace, US attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said back in March when the verdict was handed down: "Mackey has been found guilty by a jury of his peers of attempting to deprive individuals from exercising their sacred right to vote for the candidate of their choice in the 2016 Presidential Election."

And we are supposed to worried about the problems in other countries.
A democrat did the same exact thing.
No jail time.
Sound like Tater Swuft might be in for some serious “influencer” jail time too now that she’s jumped into politics.
Does the Eastern hand know what the Southern hand is doing?
Make a joke, go to prison.
Where’s the outrage? This cannot stand!!!
It works in Iran, Russia and even China and Turkey some of the people doing this to Americans love to rage about how bad those countries are but what are they doing to us?
It’s a racist decision. It says Democrat POCs are just too stupid to know how and when to vote.
Of course, if this were to stand maybe we could start indicting the mainstream media for doing the same. This might be a boon for us when we get back into power.
Spending millions to use the fake Russia Gate to interfere with the Presidential election and then use to impeach a President. What is the sentence for those “crimes”?
Yup. Lawfare
Just when did the USA go from being a constitutional republic to a dictatorial banana republic?
Did you forget the, /sarc, thing at the end?
How about going after Hillary Clinton now for claiming that she lost the 2016 election due to “Russian Interference” - millions upon millions of wasted dollars later after an investigation...nothing.
She should be made to pay it all back.
A meme can get you arrested in the new Amerika.
Breon Peace, Mau Mau DA with Soul Sistah "judge". Imagine what the unbiased "jury of his peers" looked like.
The draconian sentence is a racist revenge term.
The judge and other persecutors need to be Nifonged and sever the sentence that was passed down. And their pensions and salary given to their victim. When these commie scum realize they have skin in the game of lawfare persecution, you’ll see less of it.
Why wasn’t he tried in Florida?
Oh wait, a Florida jury wouldn’t have convicted him. Better to stack the deck so he learns that he doesn’t stand a chance.
Yes, supporters of President Trump can be mad that Powell and Chesebro took pleas. But, going to trial costs money. Sometimes a lot of it. And the defendant has to pay their lawyer(s). Prosecution gets paid whether they’re in a courtroom or sitting in their office scrolling Instagram.
So, if you don’t have deep enough pockets to afford the BEST lawyers, you’re kind of screwed unless you have evidence that law enforcement/prosecutors really screwed up. And even that won’t matter sometimes, sadly. Liberal juries ignore anything and everything if it doesn’t line up with their agendas.
And the Fed’s are the worst. They have the most ridiculous prison times attached to crimes. So they force folks to take pleas.
She will just tell people to go register and vote. She will not say for who. It might be obvious but those words will not leave her mouth. She’s not an idiot like this dummy.
