Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said the United States should not take in any Palestinian refugees if they flee the Gaza Strip because they “are all antisemitic” and he dismissed international entreaties for Israel to provide clean running water and utilities to the 2.3 million civilians in the territory.
DeSantis’ comments were a striking departure from the public stand taken by U.S. officials, including some of his fellow Republicans, who draw distinctions between the aims of the Palestinian people and those of Hamas. The militant group has ruled has Gaza since 2007 and launched an attack against Israel last weekend.
DeSantis’ endorsement of such tactics comes as he has advocated hard-line policies as a White House candidate. He suggested that not providing water or other services would persuade Hamas to release the hostages it has taken during its incursion

There are people on this forum who are like the left.. You say DeSantis’ name and they bark. It’s astounding. He’s right on this. It is a shameful thing on FreeRepublic that people feel they have to tear down another good and proven conservative because of their devotion to Trump. I have never seen anything like it, frankly.
He’s not my guy, but DeSantis is right about that.
Harvard grad, lawyer, family man...so was Obama
Can you make a rocket out of a water pipe?
I can think of many other reasons. In fact, that reason isn’t the first thing that came to mind.
Palestinian culture is steeped in anti-Semitism. Their schools indoctrinate kids to believe the most vile canards against Jews. They teach their children that killing Jews is their virtuous destiny.
Once you corrupt the minds of an entire generation, it’s basically an irredeemable situation for at least 50 to 100 years.
I don’t get the dislike for deSantis on FR. Like Trump, he has the guts to say the truth, notwithstanding the disapproval of the swamp and the media. And he may be better at turning words into actions than Trump is.
<< I don’t get the dislike for deSantis on FR. >>
It’s a tribal reflex of low caliber minds. Any threat to their chosen tribal leader is automatically deemed the enemy, no matter how conservative the threat’s creds are.
That said, there are also plenty of us who support Trump for Prez who not only don’t consider DeSantis the enemy, but like him quite a bit.
“I’m at a loss of words how people hear don’t like him”
I don’t dislike Gov DeSantis, when he’s right I’ll say so. On this subject he is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, 100% right. We need Gazans in the US like I need to remarry my ex-wife.
DeSantis did leave a bad taste in my mouth back during his campaign for reelection when he was asked, on multiple occasions, if he would be running for President. He replied “I’m running to be the Governor of Florida.” He knew full well he would be running in the Presidential primary. If I can’t trust him to answer a simple question like that, how can I trust him with anything else?
Then there were the attacks on Trump.
Just a bad taste....
“children are not targets.”
Sure they are. You just don’t lead them as much.

Big brave marine, indeed.
Donald Trump started shitposting about him on election night, 2022. Some of Mr. Trump's more enthusiastic followers are incapable of independent thought and are only able to mindlessly parrot Mr. Trump's ill-considered and counterproductive epithets. They're a sad and pathetic bunch ...
HAMAS ALREADY DID THAT, PAY ATTENTION.
Agreed
Your donkey 🫏 is named Jihadi? Apt name for an apt pet.
DeSantis is not such a good campaigner.
But he is great as a Chief Exec.
Call it The DeSantis Paradox
A real family man -- okay, seems to be true, but doesn't mean much as far as what this country needs to get out of the mess it's in
A veteran -- I appreciate this, but ditto as to above statement -- plus, he was JAG (a cushy, check the boxes type?)
A Harvard graduate -- I definitely do not like this, unimpressed by this credential -- and he's a Harvard lawyer ... typical politician path
A fantastic governor -- Yes, he's done well, but as mentioned above, he promised to stay for his term
I’m at a loss of words how people hear don’t like him
I can only speak for myself, but I get a whiff of smarmy, snake-salesman vibes from him -- opportunist, coiffed and tanned, maybe slightly elitist -- to be fair, I haven't closely followed his speeches and did not watch the "debates" -- I'd give him a real look under different circumstances, but the timing is off.
Oh ... and to get back to the OP — I agree with the DeSantis opinion that we should not bring in ANY Gazan refugees ... way too risky, let the other “Arab” nations take them in, please
Here’s the “kids” you love so much.

Wipe them all out.
There was nothing cushy in Fallujah in 2008, the bloodiest action of the war.
