It’s a tribal reflex of low caliber minds. Any threat to their chosen tribal leader is automatically deemed the enemy, no matter how conservative the threat’s creds are.

That said, there are also plenty of us who support Trump for Prez who not only don’t consider DeSantis the enemy, but like him quite a bit.

As a Floridian, I am one of those. The senseless attacks on DeSantis put me off Trump in anger for awhile, but I've cooled down and will vote for him in the primary.
