2024 showdown: DeSantis, Haley battle for second place behind Trump; Haley Surges After Two Well-Regarded Performances in the Republican Debates

ROCHESTER, N.H. – Nikki Haley is having a great fall.

The former two-term South Carolina governor who later served as ambassador to the United Nations in then-President Donald Trump's administration has been on the rise in the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

While Trump remains the commanding front-runner in the GOP race,Haley has seen her poll numbers rise nationally and in the crucial early voting states, thanks in part to two well-regarded performances in the first two Republican presidential debates.

"We can feel the momentum on the ground," Haley said in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital on Thursday following a town hall in Rochester, New Hampshire.

Haley doubled her support in a month — from 5% to 10% — in a new Fox News national poll released this week in the GOP nomination race. Haley stood in third place, behind Trump at a whopping 59% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 13%.

DeSantis remains in second place in the latest surveys in Iowa, whose caucuses kick off the Republican calendar. But Haley leapfrogged him and now stands in second in some of latest surveys in New Hampshire — which holds the first GOP presidential primary and votes second overall — and her home state, which holds the first Southern contest and votes fourth.

"We can feel it in Iowa. We can feel it in New Hampshire. We can feel it in South Carolina," Haley said, as she pointed to her momentum.

The candidate said her rise in the polls is helping boost her among the GOP donor class. Haley spent Tuesday mingling with top dollar Republican donors at an annual summit in Utah hosted by Sen. Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee,

Team DeSantis and Team Haley Pitch Themselves to the Never Trump Billionaires During Donor Strategy Meeting in Texas

October 13, 2023 | Sundance | 279 Comments

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says he can beat Trump 😂….  Nikki Haley says, no, DeSantis is a diminishing meatball now; only her neocon curriculum vitae is strong enough to go against Godzilla Trump.  Team DeSantis scoffs… Team Haley sneers….  Can you imagine being a billionaire stupid enough to subject themselves to this nonsense?

The R.A.T coalition (Republicans Against Trump) is so desperate, they held a strategy session with DeSantis and Haley to decide which one of them would carry the banner of most approved & purchased candidate.   And the candidates each thought this was a good thing.  😂🤣😂

I just do not understand this level of goofy dissonance.

(TEXAS) – Top officials with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign made the case to a gathering of top donors opposed to Donald Trump on Friday that rival GOP candidate Nikki Haley could not defeat the former president in a head-to-head matchup.

[…] In another presentation made to the same group, Haley’s team argued the opposite. DeSantis’ campaign had flatlined, they insisted, pointing to data that showed that the former UN ambassador was ascendent and, therefore, the logical choice for the anti-Trump crowd.

Haley’s team, according to a person familiar with the arguments they made, pointed to public and private polling that showed her ahead of DeSantis in key early voting states. They also noted that Haley’s campaign has more cash on hand than DeSantis, who is leaning heavily on an allied super PAC to pick up much of the tab.

“By every metric,” the person said, “Nikki is moving up and Ron is moving down. It IS a two-person race: one man and one woman.”

The dueling presentations were delivered to a major Republican donor network gathering that includes hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer and investor Ken Griffin, two of the biggest contributors in the party. It was delivered amid growing concern in some quarters of the party that a Trump nomination is quickly becoming inevitable.

Real estate developer Harlan Crow organized the conference in Dallas with an eye toward helping consolidate the field of Republican candidates. Many anti-Trump donors have been eager to winnow down the race to a one-on-one contest with Trump, who is leading in the polls against a splintered field. (read more)

In the best-case scenario, together these two knuckleheads have maybe 20% support.

So, the billionaires are meeting with the hopeless losers and deciding which loser should get the majority of their financial support?   Think about the stupidity of that!

These rich people, together with the RNC and RGA, are trying to cling to the figment of something that no longer exists.

They are totally detached from the reality that surrounds them.

Nikki Haley probably has the best chance of beating Joe Biden.

But then we'd have President Nikki Haley, George W. Bush in a skirt.

>> Haley doubled her support in a month — from 5% to 10%

The fourth grade high jumper, after clearing the 8 inch bar, gave it her all and jumped 17 inches. The elite crowd went nuts at the awesome display of athleticism and determination!

(Meanwhile the olympic gold medalist with the unruly blond hair cleared the practice bar set at seven feet again.)

I wonder if there is any MAGA support still with Desanctimonius. When and if he leaves does all of his support go to Birdbrain or does he still have e 3 or 4 % of MAGA that would move to Trump or Vivek?

She LOVES Romney and Christie, remember? Pure 100% RINO meat.

I was so happy when she went to the U.N. It meant South Carolinians were finally free of this annoying, teeth-clenching, sanctimonious prig with a superiority complex.

In both debates especially the second one, she came across as a stereotypically shrill beyotch. What type of idiots found that ingratiating?

George W. Bush in a skirt.

So..., Jeb?

Looks like Pence, Christie, and Scott are vying for the participation trophy. I shouldn’t make fun. That’s how Biden ended up as verp, and eventually the Oval Office.
