I feel great sympathy for the Israeli victims, but the US is simply too big and too exposed to possible retaliation if we butt in militarily.
The main problem is freeing the hostages. The US should help as much as it can intelligence-wise.
I keep wondering what has changed in the Mid East very recently that makes Iran think they can get away with this now? Is it belief GOP will win in 2024? Or does Iran finally have nukes? Or is just an Iranian belief that due to the protests over the Judiciary in Israel, the time is ripe to take advantage of Israeli discord? I just have dread over what comes next for Israel...

There is no evidence that Iran authorized the war crimes of Hamas that I know of.
I’m pretty sure Iran gave Hamas money, but the US and EU did too.

I gotta say, we have imported so many bad actors from the ME since 911.
It is very worrisome.
As an intelligent person, if I had the desire to do terrible things, and the humans willing to throw away their lives - I could come up with 1000s of soft targets in this country that would paralyze us for weeks as a society.
My only hope is that most of the people got here, looked around and said “I think they weren’t telling us the truth about America.” That is the only explanation for the relatively low number of Islamic terror attacks on US soil since 911.

That is true, but knowing muslims, one can take some educated guesses.
Those are that they saw images of atrocities of such brutality that anyone with any sense of right and wrong or any humanity left in them at all would be revolted.
Or that there was divulged the plans the muslims have for attacks on US soil that make 9/11 look like the pre-game warm up.
I've come to be very jaded in this world and have unfortunately found that presuming the absolute worst out of people, and certain groups in particular, gives the most accurate guess of what is on the table for us.
I’d give anything to see every Congressperson from below the Mason-Dixon line to have a Confederate Stars and Bars posted in the hall outside their office tomorrow. Just to show a little “solidarity” with America.
