I keep wondering what has changed in the Mid East very recently that makes Iran think they can get away with this now?

Three years of Joe Biden. Say what you will about Obama but at least he killed Osama bin Laden and he backed the rebels in Libya which ended up having Qadaffi killed.

Now Iran feels like no one can stop them.

Libya was a disaster. Kaddaffi was supposedly behaving during the Bush years.

Say what you will about Obama but at least he[the special forces] killed Osama bin Laden [and Obama gave him an honorable Muslim send off before engineering the coup against Egypt's president in a failed effort to replace him with the Iran-backed UN official Mohamnad el Baradei] and he backed the rebels in Libya which ended up having Qadaffi [and then US Ambassador Stevens] killed [and precipitated a massive refugee crisis that overwhelmed Europe with refugees].

For many months after bin Laden was located, Obama refused to give the go-ahead for a mission. I think it was close to a year. When he finally gave the go-ahead, the timing was peculiar.

April 27, 2011, Obama posted his birth certificate online. Anyone with photoshop knowledge could see it was photoshopped, and this was making news.

Five days later on May 2, 2011, Bin Laden was finally killed. So Obama probably had given the go-ahead a few days before. In my opinion, this was intended to change the subject, and it worked. Anyone mentioning a trivial conspiracy theory about "the man who killed bin Laden" was ridiculed.
