About a dozen years ago I got my first and only flu shot, because I had gone back into the workforce, and handled money frequently. That year was ONLY year that I got the flu as an adult. Followed by an opportunistic strep bug. I missed a lot of work those two weeks, and couldn’t afford to miss work even a few measly hours.

I decided that year, that I wasn’t getting a flu shot again. They’re just guessing.

And the mRNA shots? Don’t even get me started.

I have never had a flu shot. As a child, I got it every so often, stayed at home, and recovered.

Now, as an older mature man, I very rarely get anything flu-like. I attribute it to a solid immune system combined with having been exposed to enough in my childhood, that there is a decent level of natural immunity.

I am not going to start taking shots now.

Back when I worked for Mega-Corp we always had a push every year to get vaccinated against the flu. I always got my shot, and every year I got sick. Following the script I assumed that it would have been worse if I had not gotten it.

Then I left Mega-Corp world to work for myself. And I did not get the flu shot. It was not a thought out decision, just did not go to the doctor at the right time so did not get the shot. And although I did not notice it at first I seemed not to get sick as much. I did get sick, don't get me wrong, just not as much. And it happened in the spring. I used to get sick in the fall, in the winter and in the spring.

I have been not taking the shot for about seven years now. And yes I have done other things to improve my health but I have noticeably gotten the flu less often and have not been to the hospital even once.

Make of that what you will.
