Confirmed: Kevin McCarthy Won't Run for House Speaker
Townhall ^ | 10/3/23 | Matt Vespa

Posted on 10/03/2023 4:12:02 PM PDT by cotton1706

It’s confirmed. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), booted as the Speaker of the House of Representatives today, will not run again for his former office. The gavel will be passed onto someone who can obtain 218 votes at some point within the next few days without going multiple rounds with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and his posse.

That is the high probability bet now, we played right into the Dems and lefty hands-with just a 5 seat majority, (3 if McCarthy retires altogether as his seat will flip, the Dems) will use us getting nothing done (much manor likely now) to take over the House, and win the Presidency again in 2024, Biden or Newsome Dems like to win, work together, we don't understand that you have to win power first and love our circular firing squads. If you have any doubts about this, just check out some of the lefty boards, they haven’t been this happy since Biden took office

Now that’s a reach. About as reality oriented as Reagan’s 11th commandment, invented by Reagan’s campaign to protect Reagan from criticism.

McCarthy kept making deals with Joe Biden so he had to go.

Mark Levin has the vapors over this. Personally, I enjoy the shake up. McCarthy is “milk toast.” Dems need a good ramrod up the patootie.

Yep. We all should be. There is no plan, no leadership and no adults in the room. Just stupidity and chaos at a time when the GOP needs to get their crap together with the 2024 elections a year away.

*********************

Complete stupidity on the part of the “Rebels Without a Plan.”

Yeah..........8 malcontents voted with the democrats to oust a Republican Speaker.(sarcasm)

Because just as we always should, you dod the right thing, and in God’s timing, He solves the rest of the matter.

If you keep trying to have it your way it leaves no opening for God to act. He will let our Govt be the selfish greedy people they are until someone willing to stand up and do the right thing. Gaetz took a step in that direction.

Agreed on the 11th Commandment. Very few people mention that from President Reagan’s first? run for Gov.

It certainly hasn’t been discussed much. Question - has President Trump issued any statement since McCarthy lost? If not, I would suggest it’s because he doesn’t have a good read of House Republicans, even though the vast majority, including those who are being mentioned as Speaker - voted for McCarthy.

Perhaps, my FRiend.

It's worth noting, however, that Gaetz' vote was 8 (alleged) GOPers, and each and every Democrat on the floor.

All of them.

This might be a clue as to the lack of impetuousness, the recklessness, and the wildly lacking caution was Mister Gaetz' resolution.

Mister Gaetz is about the glam, not the results of his crazy Ivans.

Two years of no Debt Ceiling is part of America’s impending DOOM.

Kevin has only himself to blame.

200 Republicans Voted to continue Business as usual.
Never Ending CR’s and Omnibus Bills.
No Budgets. No Limit on Debt Ceiling

The real question is why 200 Republicans want to keep Business as usual.

I listen to Bongino a little every day, but tire a bit from the hyperventilating and crassness. That is not to say in any way I reject him in principle. Not going to make a media master of anyone, even the late Rush. Anyway, Levin needs to calm down on McCarthy’s ouster as it addends to McCarthy’s lack of spine.

We can both find issues w Mister McCarthy, agree on that.

My worry is that the Dems can either take over the house (with Mister Gaetz splitting the majority by threatening "or else" insanities), or that the Dems have suddenly gotten even more power, as they can control (to a degree) the new speaker with Mister Gaetz shadow-presiding and looming as the tyrant of the minority.

They don't vote 100% without a reason and with a few plans, one guesses.
