North Dakota state senator Doug Larsen, his wife and their two young children died when the small plane they were traveling in crashed in Utah, a Senate leader said Monday, according to The Associated Press.
Larsen’s death was confirmed in an email that Republican Senate Majority Leader David Hogue sent to his fellow senators and was obtained by AP.
The plane crashed on Sunday evening shortly after taking off from Canyonlands Airfield about 15 miles north of Moab, according to a Grand County Sheriff’s Department statement posted on Facebook. The sheriff’s office said all four people on board the plane were killed.
“Senator Doug Larsen, his wife Amy, and their two young children died in a plane crash last evening in Utah,” Hogue wrote in his email, according to AP. “They were visiting family in Scottsdale and returning home. They stopped to refuel in Utah.”

I’m always saying small planes are dangerous and I’m always getting back the answer they are not and I’m always reading about plane crashes in small planes. I would never go on a small plane.
Full fuel, 4 pax, 4,500 ft airport, normally aspirated engine - density altitude could be a factor.

Flatland pilot mushes into the ground after trying to depart from a high altitude airport in the summer (it’s still warm in central Utah).
Plus you get wind shear at those airports around Bryce and Moab. Been there done that.
Was he proposing some legislation the Regime didn’t approve of?
I suspect the fuel was tampered with. Was Hillary seen anywhere near the fuel depot prior to fueling?
Should be covered by the usual Live ATC and aviation channels on YouTube soon.
Most small plane crashes are caused by a failure of the pilot.
True, but I’m not sure that quite applies. Unconfirmed rumors are that the thing was seen to pitch up and fall straight out of the sky, but there’s no proof and there have been way too many rumors on past crashes that were wrong, sooo…
It was fun....
About 3 weeks later the plane crashed.....on take off.
No one was killed... Thanks to GOD!!
One kid not on board, apparently. Age unknown. Prayers for all. :-(
I dislike small planes because of the effects on me from the altitude.
Flat spin?
Who gives a damn why? I’m not a pilot. I don’t care why. I just know as a pasenger I’m not getting on a small plane.
Dreadful. RIP.
It’s kind of important to know why... because an inept pilot might crash into *your* house.
Flat spins can be caused by the pilot too.
