The wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., has filed for divorce, alleging he had at least one affair during their marriage.
In the Friday filing at a courthouse in Laurens County, Melody Duncan, who has three adult children with the congressman, accused her husband of having multiple extramarital affairs and leaving their home to live with another woman.
Duncan, who touts himself online as a "strong advocate for life and traditional family values," has been married to Melody since December 1988.
The filing, which came around noon on Friday, listed Duncan's paramour as Liz Williams, who is reportedly a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area.

"Arg! I left my keys in the car." - That's a mistake.
"Let me take this ring of my finger and bang this chick." - That's not a mistake. That's a meat up with intent to bone.
No. Not all men can afford to buy the wife out. I dare not tell you the cheaper option to them without risking banning.
The state of the courts is why most men are marriage shy these days. They often get nothing within marriage and they cant afford the divorce
As I said.
In some cases, yes. Probably this one as well. My comments on this is general and to this case in particular.
Practical concerns is not rationalization. It must be nice to be rich and be able to afford hundreds of thousands in costs. Not all can do that.
I don't think that's correct. It only allows divorce in the case of unfaithfulness...that is adultery.
IMO anyone can afford a divorce. Many men reject the concept of payments to support not only to wives who stayed home to raise the kids, but even the kids.
Our whole society is far too tied to material wealth at this point. How many farm out the raising of their babies and small children to daycare, so they don’t lose the benefit of a double-income household?
A lack of affection is abandonment. Yes, the Bible allows divorce when a spouse abandons the marriage.

Men reject the impoverishment that follows a divorce. That is why most people are no longer marrying. Your position presupposes fair treatment, which is not the case in family courts today.
I wonder if your response would be the same if the woman is not getting any “affirmation.”
I believe withholding of sex (which, to be explicit, is what you are referring to) IMO is reason for divorce if it is voluntary. But that is not what the bible says—even in the interpretation you link to.
Your endless speculation about him not getting any at home just seems strange
It's not withholding relations in the relationship which is probably what most may think abandonment is.
My position is the same for either spouse. If they are being denied their need to be loved, it is an acceptable reason for divorce.
Im not justifying infidelity itself. Im just recognizing that starving somebody of affection can leave them vulnerable to somebody who will pay them attention.
I wasnt speculating about him specifically. I only said that not being loved at home can leave a person vulnerable when they are alone.
“ A commitment is a commitment.”
And when facts surrounding the relationship change, then what? Stay in it with someone who treats you like crap?
Life is too short to be mired in unhappiness. Save yourself and get out. (Hopefully the children, if any, will be grown by then and will understand)
There is absndonment somebody leaves and does not return. There is also abandonment within a marriage, where one spouse would rather attend to their interests instead of their spouse.
He thinks he’s young again and wants to start another family. Many do too. First kids eventually feel like dad divorced them too.
Maintain health insurance for their children? Their three adult children?? (Per article.)
Can’t their adult children maintain their own health insurance??
He thinks he’s young again and wants to start another family.
Did he tell you this?
