The wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., has filed for divorce, alleging he had at least one affair during their marriage.
In the Friday filing at a courthouse in Laurens County, Melody Duncan, who has three adult children with the congressman, accused her husband of having multiple extramarital affairs and leaving their home to live with another woman.
Duncan, who touts himself online as a "strong advocate for life and traditional family values," has been married to Melody since December 1988.
The filing, which came around noon on Friday, listed Duncan's paramour as Liz Williams, who is reportedly a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area.

Liz Williams, just looked at her picture, not guilty
Interesting, from a Soap Opera point of view, but what makes this story newsworthy? Infidelity happens all the time.
Is it just because he’s Republican? Even that’s not new anymore.
He did lie by saying he had family values. I hate when they are fake.
In many cases, “Washington lobbyist” is just a polite name for “prostitute”.
she looks age appropriate so i will give him that.
People can be so stupid. sorry for his wife ( if she’s sorry to lose him, that is)
While I am Catholic, and do not believe in divorce, generally, I have far less of an issue with someone who gets a divorce because they want to pursue a different love interest versus someone who has an affair.
This guy is just another phony “family values” hypocrite, like so many Republican politicians.
He’s toast, as he should be.
A prediction that he won’t be seeking re-election in 2024.
“Affirmed”? Lol. Puhleez. Men are out in the world stroking their egos and don’t even know who they are coming home to. They get home and what, their wife is supposed to act like some kind of groupie? Listen, this is the woman who has heard you fart in the middle of the night, has put your underbars through the wash, has seen you drink too much and barf, get real. Be happy you have a home to come home to. Put some effort into treating your wife, the mother of your children with respect, caring and decency.
Multiple affairs is not a mistake. It’s a choice. Once, with accompanied remorse and recourse, is a mistake.
Does something not go through the heads of these “family value” politicians that if they partake in these blatantly hypocritical schemes they make the whole party look bad? I can’t imagine carrying on like an animal in heat and yammering about my family values.
As I said, men are not loved and affirmed sexually at home. Your response confirms my supposition. A man needs to be loved and your response is to ridicule hus need
I do hope that your response is not an indication of your hime life.
Im not excusing his cheating. A proper response to a spouse that abandons the marriage is divorce. However, not all men can afford the divorce courts.
Also divorce filings are sensationalized to get a big settlement for the wife. This couple may have essentially separated long ago. Why, if they had adult children was the wife not in DC with her husband.
Uh, no. Only a tiny fraction of pol affairs make the news.
So it’s the wife’s fault if a husband is unfaithful?
Sounds like the rationale of a true misogynist.

No, what I said is reality. You said you understood his childish need to play with the shiny new toy.
I never said it was her fault, but it does leave him vulnerable to a woman who would love him and is not his wife. About 20% of marriages are functionally sexless. It is quite common for women to sleep with the Alpha males without a ring and then deny sex to beta husband they do marry.
As I said, the proper response to alack of affection is divorce, not infidelity.
If hes not loved home, you cannot expect him to be celibate within the marriage.
But you say that not all men can “afford” divorce.
Sounds like more rationalization to me.

His word means nothing apparently. Just like the word of most politicians. His vow and oath is just so much blather. Place your hand on the Bible and lie.
