Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Sept. 14 temporarily placed on hold a lower court ruling that restricted federal agencies from contacting social media firms with requests to remove content while the justices consider how to handle the case. His order froze a recent appeals court decision that found that federal officials likely violated First Amendment protections by coercing some platforms into deleting certain posts and content. A lawsuit was filed by Missouri and Louisiana last year against the Biden administration, accusing federal officials of trying to censor people with certain viewpoints.
A district judge in July blocked a multitude of federal agencies from communicating with social media firms, while the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Sept. 8 partially upheld the ruling. The appeals court allowed certain agencies to still contact those companies and argued that the lower court's order was too broad.

Frickin’ ALITO???!!!
WTH???? Has Alito gone DEMONIC??
We either have a First Amendment, or we don’t.
We either have a Second Amendment, or we don’t.
The Founding Fathers believed very strongly in both. Very strongly.
Temporary
Maybe he sees it as a first amendment issue. The government can request any social media platform or person for that matter to do something. Doesn’t mean the platform or person has to do it.
Coercion or threats on the other hand would be illegal.
“Alito”
I hope he just wants to get something clear and on the record.
If not ...... stick a fork in it .... it’s done
Apparently you don’t understand the relationship big tech, the media, and the rat party has.
They should be separated by walls but they sleep together.
Hardly. Stays are put in place before trial and whether or not they are upheld hasn't indicated which way the actual trial will go.
Fights over stays are so riddled with technicalities, it's really not worth looking into unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
Let me play devil’s advocate here. The government should have the ability to contact these platforms to have criminal illegal and terroristic information removed. But I do not agree with their use of tactics to remove “misinformation and disinformation”. There is a split the baby approach to this that would work.
No...just making sure it goes before the whole court.
“Frickin’ ALITO???!!!”
He’s doing his due diligence as a supreme court justice and not being a political hack like some other justices. There is a long way to go in this session.

guess the deep state has video’s of him on epstein’s island after all.
I fully get your point but when have you known this corrupt Marxist government to play by the rules. Their rule is to bypass all the rules.
They will abuse this to no end. The government has proven they can never be trusted again. At least not until the entire corruption within it is fired and removed from the equation.
Then why can’t the lower court order stay while Alito figures out how to “handle the case”? Given these are government First Amendment violations at question, Alito should be erring on the side of protecting rights of the people. His caution should be on behalf of the people, not the government.
Deep State has controlled the SCOTUS for a while now.
This shouldn’t be a shocker.
And think about this...
Even if Trump does somehow manage to win...
Deep State will STILL control the SCOTUS, Congress, and the bureaucracy.
Alito has shown he is very reluctant to cut back on government power.
“The government should have the ability to contact these platforms to have criminal illegal and terroristic information removed.”
You mean like those evil parents, MAGA supporters, and Catholics? BS. Not when the government gets to define ordinary Americans as terrorist.
