On one hand justice delayed is justice denied. On the other hand, there are competing motions for summary judgment which, if granted, could be dispositive or at the very least streamline the proceedings.

Based upon the judge’s ruling, the trial will commence on October 2.

It’s not a trial.

It’s a star chamber.

At this point it is beyond clear this is election interference and nothing more..
Courts cases are delayed basically automatically for any reason by either side, is a gimme. Courts nearly always grant 1 delay per side automatically if requested.

I expect him to be sentenced to prison or maybe house arrest if he’s lucky by December. Sucks cause the gop seems to be. Going all in on a guy that just won’t be on a lot ballots.

Is there any backup plan?

This pretty much says all we need to know about the so-called “judge” in this case, just another political hack in a black robe:

A Manhattan judge Thursday called Donald Trump “just a bad guy” in a scathing rebuke to a lawyer arguing that the former president was being unfairly singled out for investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

At the end of the hearing, state Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump — along with his daughter Ivanka Trump and son Donald Trump Jr. — to comply with subpoenas and testify under oath in a civil investigation launched by James into suspicious Trump Organization business practices.

On one hand, it’s the responsibility of banks and insurance companies to make independent estimates of the value of assets used for collateral or to be insured. On the other hand, fraud only occurs when there is an injured party. From my understanding there is no injured party.

This is beyond bogus. “Favorable loans”? Is the government working on behalf of the bank now? If you give someone loan and they put up collateral it’s up to the person giving the loan to determine and conform if the value of the asset suffices. Condos in the NY hellhole go for millions, that is truly inflated ad no one wants to live in that rat dump. Luckily they have a lot of foreign buyers laundering their money.

Even I’d true they are making a criminal case out of a banks business decision. Loans aren’t given solely on a person’s net worth.

Name doesn’t come to mind, but I think their MO is to attempt to nail people on inflated assets values, as they previously did to some Republican’s real estate around the DC area if recollection comes to mind??!

⏩In an attempt to block any other party who actually closed the deal from recognition.

As noted this is a civil case. A case which will impugn the professional lawyers and accountants who Trump employs to run his various business interests. Therefore any liability is $$$ just simply another was to pick his corporate pocket and on the unrelated criminal matters remove him from the presidential ballot.

fraud enabled Trump to inflate his net worth by as much as $2.23 billion,

So that could pay even more in taxes?

IF PRESIDENT TRUMP IS REMOVED FROM THE BALLOT:

I SHALL WRITE HIS NAME IN AS MY CHOICE.

AND SO SHOULD EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS HIM.

The judge is a really biased hack:

“These are huge towers. I’ve lived in the city my whole life. You can’t just do this because the zoning allows it. I just can’t believe this is the case.”

— State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron

These robed men and women rule on high-stakes real estate disputes and rezonings for projects and entire neighborhoods. Lately, some of their key decisions have been reversed on appeal, which suggests they are not doing a bang-up job.

Take the quote above by Engoron, who ruled that four towers proposed by JDS Development, L+M Development, CIM Group and Starrett Corporation in the Manhattan neighborhood Two Bridges required a rezoning, even though they complied with the zoning in place. If that sounds like sound legal reasoning, I’ve got two bridges to sell you.

The developers appealed and won.

-snip

All three reversals were unanimous. Do the judges care about being overturned? One would hope. But the court system does not keep track of their reversal rates and their jobs are as safe as houses. They nearly always serve until they hit the mandatory retirement age of 70 (at which point they can request up to three two-year extensions).
