New York state will provide COVID-19 tests and masks in school districts amid a recent spike in cases over the summer, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced Tuesday.
The announcement also comes after the recent discovery of the BA.2.86 subvariant in New York City’s sewage, according to city officials.
Hochul’s office Wednesday said the state will conduct outreach to the Education Department and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) to determine each district’s needs for the test kits and masks, including both N95 and KN95 masks.
“Thanks to the hard work of New York schools, teachers, and parents, we have come a long way to ensure students can safely return to the classroom,” Hochul wrote in a statement. “Frequent testing for COVID-19 is an important part of keeping our kids safe and preventing an outbreak, and I will continue to ensure our school districts have the resources they need to provide a safe, in-person learning environment for our students.

Why is NY supplying BOTH the N95 and KN95?
The difference between the two types of masks is the certification. N95 is the United States (U.S.) standard and the KN95 is the China standard. Only N95 masks are approved for healthcare use in the U.S.
I know we don’t trust the CDC but, “CDC recommends that people be cautious about purchasing KN95 in the U.S. because many are fake and do not meet NIOSH requirements.”

Long before the Fake Fraud Fauci, real American scientists helped reduce and eliminate many illnesses. Polio, smallpox, etc. When I was very young, I remember the sugar cube method for polio. A real vaccine.

I remember those needles. They were much thicker than the ones they use now. They were cold and went deep. All of the kids in my school were inoculated. We had kids fainting from the trauma. Most treated it as a badge of courage. Most important was the quick immunization of a large percent of the population (Boomer babies) created a quick herd immunity. Because of the willingness of the American people to quickly get immunity, we crushed that damn Polio virus! Those who know the truth of such a success are watching in shock the vaccine hesitancy that is going on in our nation. If China wanted a successful dispach of germ warfare, the anti-vaxxers are aiding in its success. I ask, have people gone stark-raving mad???
I don't want to embarrass you with my alternate facts. Your statement reflects the thinking of many because of false information we all read and see on TV. Perhaps, it is a desire to let this virus take its course, naturally. People are getting weary of each wave of COVID leaving their mark. People have no idea of how the 1918 flu pandemic left its mark in three waves that occurred in the spring, fall, and winter of 1918. That pandemic killed 675,000 in the U.S.A. Compare that to COVID which has so far killed 1,174,328 in the U.S.A. and 6,912,600 worldwide. Compared to the 1918 flu, COVID is no fake illusion. The total monetary cost of COVID in the U.S.A. will reach $14 trillion by the end of 2023.
The most frightening characteristic of COVID is it kills the older age groups most. In the U.S., adults aged 50 to 64 have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 at a rate four times higher than that of adults between 18 and 29 and dying at a rate 35 times higher than that of their younger counterparts. There are scientific reasons for this result. However, for brevity's sake, I won't go there. I know many wouldn't want to lose their grandparents. I ask, is it because others see them as non-essential and don't deserve to be protected? I hope not!
Face masks are another proven means of protection. Those who say face masks are fake protection, rely on the false reading of a study that actually proved masks offer reliable protection:
