Tucker Carlson has claimed the United States 'hates' Russia because 'it's a Christian country' - amid claims in Moscow that he's trying to land an interview with Vladimir Putin.
The former Fox News star told MCC Feszt, a social, political and cultural festival in Hungary, that Russia is like Hungary in that both are nations 'built on Christian precepts'.
'That is enough to incite our policy makers in the United States and that is exactly why they hate Russia,' he said.
Carlson told the audience at the festival - which ran through the final weekend of July - that he is 'not a fan of Russia'.
He added: 'One thing that Russia and Hungary have in common is a big part of the population identify as Christians. Why would that be provocative?
'A huge part of Malaysians identify as Muslim. Fine with me. But it's not fine with Washington at all, it's deeply offensive to see that alive in Europe. And that is the core - it's not rational, this is happening on a gut level, but it is expressed through policy.'
Hungary, a member of both the European Union and NATO, has come under scrutiny from western leaders because of Prime Minister Viktor Orban's favorable approach to Russia and his reluctance to support military aid for Ukraine.

The post-Soviet Russian government never repealed the Stalin era laws passed by atheists to strengthen the USSR, unlike the Western nations that repealed restrictions imposed by once Christian legislatures. Putin sometimes goes to church. But so do Biden, Pelosi, Obama, etc., yet most on FR would deny the American politicians are Christians.
More significant are the facts that Russia is closely aligned with Red China, the Russians maintain close ties with Communist controlled nations from North Korea to Venezuela, and the relics of Communism, such as the red star over the Kremlin and the prominence of Lenin's tomb in Red Square speak more of Russia's true orientation than a Russian leader publicly making the Sign of the Cross occasionally.
Thank you the link to the Orban-Tucker interview. Great stuff. But it makes me sad. The contrast between a Trump-like patriot president and the driveling moron who pretends to be the leader in this country could not be more stark. Lucky Hungary. Poor us.
Tucker Carlson is soaked in the US culture war. His analysis is terribly parochial. In Europe it certainly doesnt look like a religious war. Nobody sees Russia as a religious nation. Over here this take would come across as absurd.
Poland, for one, is much more religious than Russia. Its got its own problems with Euro bien pensants, but thats not a cause for war.
Yes Sir. Sad, but with great anger. Not hate, but ANGER!
I’m 70.
I grew up a G.I. Brat, well versed in the Soviet empire, and what their known plans were. I take it personally, that somme second string baseball playing law student from Harvard, decided that he wanted to point a missile with a nuclear warhead, at me! Later on, I served in the military, and performed my duty to stop the spread of commjunism in Asia, and operated in Cold War chessgames.
Add some time down the road, when I was interacting with Russian families who hhave sought political/religious asylum here.
The Soviet system is dead, but like the German nazi’s, whispers still abound.
Under the Tsars, the country sas Christian. The Soviets tried but did not erase that, entirely. Since the Fall of The Berlin Wall, there has been a slow but steady resurgence. Mssr. Putin, in his desire for Mother Russia to regain her oldd standing, without an aristocracy, knows that the orthodoxy played a major role.
So, do I ‘hate Russia’? No more than I do that grizzly bear in ‘the back 40’. I do keep watch, and equipped should he wish to make a meal of me.
I’m just plain disgusted when other folks employ the word ‘we’ and wish my silent approval!
Lots of times, since I am 71, really, I.J.D.G.A.F.!!
Yes, his argument fits the data quite well. Better than any other explanation we’ve heard
Please view the 2nd link in my post #15, Victor Orbán is very perceptive and he “get’s it with Russia. And he explains it well.
I think it’s obvious that the people in the West who hate Russia are virtually the same people who hate Christianity and what it stands for, so Tucker does have a point here.
I’m glad so many here realize Tucker’s statement was an exaggeration or worse.
I loved Tucker’s show and he’s right that the left hates Christians and conservative values. In fact, since Tucker was fired I have not allowed my tv to be on Fox for even a second.
However, Tucker developed a hatred for Ukraine and helping Ukraine that is irrational.
Ukraine is a more Christian country than Russia.
Russia has engaged in a many decades long campaign against us and Russia’s neighbors. Supporting world monsters like N. Korea, Iran, Syria, Cuba.
Just because the left in America is evil does not mean Ukraine is evil, or that Russia is virtuous.
Unfortunately, we’re stuck with a horrible Democrat president at the moment. That doesn’t mean the world threats to America have gone away.
Tucker’s bias is such that he promoted many unworthy beliefs and awful guests (like MacGregor) and misled many people here about Ukraine and Russia.
One such argument is his belief that Biden literally wants a war with Russia, and somehow that explains or excuses Russia invading Ukraine.
Putin is a KGB psycopath, not a Christian.
Democrats never forgave Russia for abandoning Communism.

That interview was a breath of fresh air. Just to see firsthand a leader in the world who has their head screwed on straight is so inspiring. Now, if the U.S. and the rest of the world held that same position the world would be so much better off. Why it’s not so, has to be caused by anti-humanist, evil-inspired thought and behavior.
Agree.
Please view the 2nd link in my Post #15. Interview with Victor Orbán. He totally get’s what Russia is. You will not be disappointed.

Just as the government has tightened control over political life, so, too, has it intruded in matters of faith. The Kremlin’s surrogates in many areas have turned the Russian Orthodox Church into a de facto official religion, warding off other Christian denominations that seem to offer the most significant competition for worshipers. They have all but banned proselytizing by Protestants and discouraged Protestant worship through a variety of harassing measures, according to dozens of interviews with government officials and religious leaders across Russia.

Also, while the Left in the West promotes profuse perversity, and engages in child abuse, abortion rates are still higher in Russia:
Russia has a Christian State Religion. It’s not the way we define Christianity. But, there have been Churches in Russia since before Europeans came to America. And, I am including the Vikings in that statement.
I have not traveled Russia; there fore I can not comment on how many Christians there are nor their character or following the teachings of Christ.
But from what I have heard Russia does not allow any practice christian of faiths other than Russian Orthodox; by law. That does not strike me as a christian nation.
True, the US has fallen a great distance lately and many of the people in the US comes far short of following the teachings of Christ.
The US leaders hate anyone that tries to take their power and money a way.
Remember divorce, ya know, that mortal sin? Putin is cool with that sin. Dumped his wife and is shacking up with a youngster. Yeah, a real bastion of morality.
Same thing with abortion. It took decades, but SCOTUS repealed Roe. Russia? The same government that passes red meat anti-trans laws refuses to ban abortion. I guess infanticide is ok. Real solid morality right there.
Russian leaders like Putin would stream Brokeback Mountain and fly the rainbow flag above the Kremlin if he thought it would bring him more power and cash.
He has the Cross in his hand and the devil in his heart. We got his number. If he doesn't repent, I hope he enjoys the lake of fire.

Viktor Yushchenko (still here)
The leadership of Russia - ya know...that nation that lectures America on morality - is in reality a bunch of unrepentant filthy slime.
No nation is perfect, but I’ll take America over the Soviets any day.
Us govt. No. the people. If you haven’t witnessed hatred of the Russians on a personal level you haven’t been paying attention
