I have not traveled Russia; there fore I can not comment on how many Christians there are nor their character or following the teachings of Christ.
But from what I have heard Russia does not allow any practice christian of faiths other than Russian Orthodox; by law. That does not strike me as a christian nation.
True, the US has fallen a great distance lately and many of the people in the US comes far short of following the teachings of Christ.
The US leaders hate anyone that tries to take their power and money a way.
Meaning "practice" as including sharing one's faith, even by telephone, it is outlawed. Like as the Pact of Umar this is designed to slowly strangle the competition to the state church. However, elective abortion is allowed. In the West, then the Left lust for the dictatorial control that Putin has, and wars against him as competition, as not being a team player.
The pledge allegiance of the Left (with one hand over groin) something like:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Sodom, and to the perversion for which it stands, one nation under Satan, iniquitous, with licentiousness and gender transitioning for all."
