Americans Are Bailing on Their Home Insurance
wall st journal ^ | 8/28/23 | Story by Veronica Dagher

Homeowners are increasingly forgoing home insurance, gambling that the likelihood of a disaster isn’t high enough to justify the cost of a policy

Some skipping insurance say they are doing so because they can no longer afford the rising premiums. The national average for home insurance based on $250,000 in dwelling coverage increased this year to $1,428 annually, up 20% from 2022, according to Bankrate.

Others, particularly among the wealthy, say they have enough money saved to rebuild or move elsewhere should their home be destroyed.

“They still are unable to get either company to cover the damages.”

They Better Call Saul.

Junkyard dog attorneys love going after insurance companies.

If the attorney is pleasant and professional they are worthless.

They need a street-fighter.

…and all time high CC debt, near all time low savings, flat wages, inflation, CRE, etc.

Good times ahead…

Maybe GoFundMe is the key here. Instead of purchasing insurance, they will throw themselves at the generosity of others should disaster strike. I mean, it is an option that didn’t used to exist.

Just something to drop on your head or your bed when the eaarrthquakes, the volcanos, and typhoons hit. Other than that, it’s sunshine and cocoanuts!

The companies keep jacking their rates up, and people leave them. Funny how that works.

And $1,428 is cheap compared to what I’m paying here in Pensacola: over $2300 for a 1400-sqft home and an outbuilding, due to the problems with termites and the destructive swirly thingies of summertime.

You can tell when a house has no insurance.

It never gets rebuilt after the fire. The rubble isn’t even cleaned up.

Pay cash for your home. Insure yourself for liability (cheap). Keep your large trees professionally trimmed and deep root fertilized. Keep your home in good repair. Sleep well.

They won’t renew policies with a roof 10 years old that’s guaranteed for 25 years. They won’t insure roofs with solar panels

$4 a day is a pack of cigs or a couple of 12 oz beers.

Priorities, man.

Why bother with home insurance when the government typically comes in and bails out people anyway?

Did your insurance in Guam provide coverage if Guam tipped over?

Insurance isn’t for band aids. It’s for catastrophes.

I see, no biggy huh? like everything else goes up 20%...Just pay it, right?

Insurance is a GD rip off! Everything goes up except the wages, as people slowly get economically gang raped.
