Alabama may become the first state to execute a prisoner by making him breathe pure nitrogen, a death penalty method that is authorized by three states but has never been used.
The office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall asked the state Supreme Court in a court filing on Friday to set an execution date for 58-year-old death row inmate Kenneth Eugene Smith. The filing revealed Alabama intends to put him to death by nitrogen hypoxia.
Smith was one of two men convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire killing of a preacher’s wife. “It is a travesty that Kenneth Smith has been able to avoid his death sentence for nearly 35 years after being convicted of the heinous murder-for-hire slaying of an innocent woman, Elizabeth Sennett,” Marshall said in a statement.

Isn’t nitrogen causing “Climate Change”???
One might also say that there is no wrong way to do the right thing.
Nope. One simply goes to sleep. Deep, deep sleep. About six feet deep.
Yes, no one is executed in Maxico.
LOL. You have just set the bar for assessing your intellectual acumen, especially concerning your regular blog pimping.
To be clear: That bar is low, very low.
But there is no right way to do the wrong thing.

True, but we’re talking here about criminals who SHOULD be executed, and within days of their conviction. The old French method was the least likely to involve inhumane complications.
Don’t want him wasting oxygen.
There’s no wrong way to do the right thing.

I’m 100% supportive of capital punishment but I believe there is a moral responsibility to employ the fastest, surest, least painful method possible. From what I’ve read, during the Cold War the Soviets developed a silent gun that discharged a chemical which upon penetration caused a fatal heart attack within seconds. And of course the old French execution method was instantaneous and almost never malfunctioned.
They always have the “right” drugs for euthanasia patients.

Pets too!

Don’t believe I know anyone who is not against an unjust death penalty!
It won’t. You’d need an ambient pressure change for that. Don’t forget you’re breathing 79% N2 with every breath already; this would be better described as “oxygen depleted” vs breathing nitrogen.
Sounds like a lot of the industrial accidents involved people who did not even know they were dying. Does not seem as if much pain is associated with this form of execution.

There’s not much need for arguments against an unjust death penalty since the definition of the word “unjust” itself makes the issue self-evident.
If it is humane enough to execute an innocent stray with, surely its humane enough to execute a murderer!

Well and truly said!
How come there is a right way to “assist suicide” or euthanize?

Excellent point!
The companies that make the drug will not sell it to states for the execution of humans. DEI at work.
I’ve never understood why they don’t just OD the condemned on heroin. Simple yet effective.
Yeah. Hot shots seem to be cheap, easy, and effective in the ghetto.
I had no idea. Thanks!
