Alabama may become the first state to execute a prisoner by making him breathe pure nitrogen, a death penalty method that is authorized by three states but has never been used.
The office of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall asked the state Supreme Court in a court filing on Friday to set an execution date for 58-year-old death row inmate Kenneth Eugene Smith. The filing revealed Alabama intends to put him to death by nitrogen hypoxia.
Smith was one of two men convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire killing of a preacher’s wife. “It is a travesty that Kenneth Smith has been able to avoid his death sentence for nearly 35 years after being convicted of the heinous murder-for-hire slaying of an innocent woman, Elizabeth Sennett,” Marshall said in a statement.

“ I believe Nitrogen will create the same symptoms as “The Bends.”
You believe incorrectly.

I like the idea, but wouldn’t that be forced suffocation? A 45acp to the head would be faster and more satisfying.
Let him do it and give him a last cigarette and his own lighter with it.

And those arguments are wrong.

This is what the liberals wanted.
They harassed drug companies to not sell the execution drugs to states with the death penalty so this is it.
I hope they are happy.
Ya know, I’ve been pro-death penalty for my entire life. But the way the courts have been weaponized, the way law enforcement has shown itself to be not only untrustworthy but treasonous, and the methods TPTB use to railroad and destroy those that disagree with them has got me thinking it over more and more.
I have always said, use the same thing the animal pounds use to put down stray animals!
If it is humane enough to execute an innocent stray with, surely its humane enough to execute a murderer!
Only veterinarians should administer lethal doses of anything to carry out death sentences.
They are always doing the humane thing, nothing cruel and unusual, putting animals to sleep.
How come there is a right way to “assist suicide” or euthanize?
“Unjust” death penalty?
Stating that obviously means there are “just” death penalties.
The death penalty has always been of God who has always prescribed death to evil wrongdoers.
Who are you or I to argue with God?
Wrong, you just go to sleep and never wake up. Happens sometimes in confined spaces, workers just pass out and peacefully die.
I didn't know there was one.
That's not correct. Breathing pure nitrogen will cause hypoxia, loss of consciousness, and death ... all in very short order. Decompression sickness (AKA "the bends") is explained in great detail on wikihahahapedia, among other more legitimate sites.
What’s an “unjust death penalty”? All death penalties, or those subjected to it who are innocent?
That’s decompression sickness, where nitrogen comes out of solution in the blood and forms bubbles. Different situation.
Ok got it, you are liberal on capital punishment.
“And those arguments are wrong.”
Spoken like an elementary school child.
This is a debate forum that requires adult-level rationale and reasonable support for refuting an argument.
Premise, rational argument, rational conclusion.
Your conclusion is no argument.
