Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said China could invade Taiwan without major consequences from the U.S. once he has hypothetically attained the nation’s “semiconductor independence” in 2028.
Semiconductor independence: In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Ramaswamy stressed the importance of semiconductors and why the U.S. should take aggressive action until the nation is able to produce its own. Ramaswamy noted that China would hypothetically not take the risk of aggressing towards Taiwan for his term “if we show we’re serious about [semiconductor independence].”

It's unimportant what the US thinks about China taking over Taiwan, first because we have already agreed Taiwan is part of China and second, because we would under no circumstances fight a war over the question.
TL;DR: Taiwan doesn't belong to Vivek Ramaswamy or any other US official, it's not ours to retain or give away.
Huh?
What’s up with Vivek?
That’s the end of this fake as a presidential candidate.
Vivek, thank-you for playing, here are some parting gifts and a year’s supply of Turtle Wax.
The headline is misleading. Here is the operative phrase
“I am not going to send our sons and daughters to die over that conflict. And that's consistent with my position on Ukraine as well." Vivek Ramaswamy
Responding to headlines without reading and comprehending the article is becoming endemic here.
Yessiree, we kept those commies from coming here. Oh, wait.......
I can’t argue with Rush! Ha!
He just did himself in.
Neocons would love another stupid war over Taiwan.
Stupid neocons learned nothing from Vietnam fiasco.
Even the horrible Iraq fiasco destabilizing entire middle-east taught the neocons nothing.
You would thing neocons would stay out of Afghanistan which no one ever could conquer. But no, neocons created another fiasco.
Neocons are at it again in Ukraine.
All these foreign wars sacrificing blood and treasure, what was the gain? Only gain was in national debt size.
Taiwan is in China’s armpits. USA getting their nose in there will cause a severe bloody nose and ginormous jump in national debt. But neocons don’t care.
“Neocons are at it again in Ukraine.”
Never thought of Biden as a neocon.
I believe Chiang Kai-shek said that.
Pretty standard position for a globalist libertarian. They have no concept of patriotism or interest in standing up against communist tyrrany.
Vivek is an anti-Christian multimillionaire who talks fast and as a result tricked a fair number of people into thinking he’s anything other than a giant phony.
Vivek is not an American politician. He is a Hindi politician.
Yes, I know he was born in the United States and is nominally an American citizen.
But by culture and upbringing, he is a Brahmin class Indian raised by Indian parents. That culture does not wash away in one generation of immigration, or even three generations. It creates people with very different perspectives and values than what is common in American and European populations. We ignore that at our own peril.
He has superior abilities to tell us want we want to hear. There are a few gaps in his positions which reveal themselves at odd moments. He corrects them very quickly.
Buyer beware.
The man sounded pretty good when he started . Now not.
The LAAP-dog media's polls pop up new leaders every two weeks, the leaders are given media attention where they eventually say something awkward, and then the Fox News Debate moderators are forced to include the media-driven gaffes in their questions to the Republican candidates.
That's how the left gets to influence the so-called "friendly" debates of Republicans. A new debate every month, a new poll leader every month, too.
Whack, whack, whack...

Biden got lots of money from Ukraine.
Some neocons like the money .
Some like the macho feeling.
Some just like slaughter of soldiers.
“The lessons we were supposed to learn was to stay ahead of our enemies and to engage them where they pop up, rather than wait until they get here.”
That ship has sailed. The USA no longer has the industrial capacity or defence capability to fight an all out war against China.
Recommend a course in comparative industrial capacity: start with USA 5% of world steel production; China 50 %
What some refreshing comments, FReepers. For a belly laugh:

Old ones. New ones. Brandon is full of cons.
Taiwan does not manufacture semiconductors for the U.S., they also manufacture for Europe. If China takes Taiwan the U.S. can do their own semiconductors. Those other countries don’t have that ability.
