A Georgia indictment of former President Donald Trump that is expected this week could depend on a grand jury’s interpretation of an often-misreported phone call that Trump had with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in the aftermath of the 2020 vote.
The indictment in Fulton County would charge Trump and several associates with using improper pressure and methods to convince state officials to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election in the state, through aggressive challenges.
But while Trump is often accused of telling Raffensperger to “find me the votes,” the transcript of the conversation shows that Trump said something different: “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have because we won the state.”
It may not have been a command, but rather the expression of Trump’s desire to document what he appears to have believed was his actual victory in the state, which he appeared to be winning on Election Night before Joe Biden triumphed in the mail-in vote.
As George Washington University Law School professor noted Monday, Trump’s remark has been widely misreported, and his critics have barely bothered to notice that Trump might have meant something other than what they have insisted he meant:
Thus far, the focus has been on the controversial call that Trump had with Georgia officials — a call widely cited as indisputable evidence of an effort at voting fraud. Yet, the call was similar to a settlement discussion, as state officials and the Trump team hashed out their differences and a Trump demand for a statewide recount. Trump had lost the state by less than 12,000 votes. That might be what he meant when he stated, “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have because we won the state.”

He didn’[t ask them to insert votes...just to keep checking the tallies. Nothing wrong with that. Another phone call gone wrong...not...same MO as Russia Russia Russia.
The indictment will be made by a bunch of ignorant nobodies who all hate Whitey based on mau mau BS brought up by an ignorant non-White trying to Get Whitey. Trump just happens to be a stand in for all dem Crackuh Mutha You Knows.
What was clearly a reasonable plea to the State officials to find the obvious fraud and fix it is merely being twisted to mean something else, which really by itself is not actionable: they don’t work for him, and were under no duress to do what he says. Lobbying someone to do something is merely speech. Did he attempt any extortion, request for money, etc? Nope.
It’s as pathetic an accusation as the so called Vindman call. They just go apes**t and spin it into something by babble speaking to a “grand jury” of drooling idiots who then say, “yea! yea! he guilty! duh lawyuh lady say so!” and the howling commences.
the dems insistence that there would appear to be a red mirage has always been suspicious of the best voter fraud organization put together.
The indictment in Fulton County would charge Trump and several associates with using improper pressure and methods to convince state officials to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election.
Count the chads like the democrats did?.
there was never anything at all wrong with that phone call.
Pollak, like many here seems to assume that any proceeding against Trump will proceed under the Rule of Law.
That concept was thrown out a few days after the 2016 election.
I remember when they were talking about hanging chads...one of the judges popped up..."Punch out your selection" "What's so hard about that?"
and to think that
we used to laugh at the “justice” systems of “Banana Republics”
and we’d tell jokes about the
the patently- rigged “elections” in Communist countries
imagine that!
It seems to me that this is similar to how Pence now wants to represent expectation of his role on Jan 6. When I hear Pence discuss this, he seems to imply that there was an expectation that the VP could stand before Congress and annoint anyone he wanted to be president. Could he literally overturn the election? Could he name the next president just on a whim? Pence says the Constitution gives the Vice President no such power.
Of course, no one thinks it does. No one had those crazy expectations of the Pence. The idea was to not certify questionable votes but to turn the matter back to the states and ask them to double-check their numbers. That doesn’t seem like a crazy or unConstitutional approach.
No one wanted Pence to “overturn the election”. Just make sure it was accurate.
And no one thinks Trump was asking Georgia to *ahem* “come up with 12,000 votes for me”.
The effort was to ensure an honest election. The Democrats perceive that as a direct threat to them.
There were thousands of calls daily going from CA to GA digging up votes.
I know this as I know someone manning the phones in CA.
“Strongarming” to get their way seems to be the Bidens MO.
Shades of “The Godfather.”
The mafioso-type hierarchical structure consisted
of Obama appointing VP Biden point man on Ukraine.
Joe bragged on video he “strongarmed” a Ukranian.....
using threats of canceling Congress-mandated foreign aid
......... billions of our tax dollars.......
to fire a Ukrainian prosecutor looking into Burisma corruption....
corruption in which his own son was immersed and would be outed.
Hunter himself “strongarmed” a Chinese client saying his VP
father would “punish him” if the Chinese guy didnt pay the Bidens.
No wonder the astute plea deal judge said it reminded her of a Mafia movie.
The Bidens are little more than racketeers.
Racketeering is a facet of organized crime in which the racketeers set up a coercive, fraudulent, extortionary, or otherwise illegal coordinated scheme (a “racket”) to repeatedly or consistently collect a profit.
Racketeers coerce or threaten people, often with the threat (implicit or otherwise), that failure to comply will engender “punishment.”
Nope and there were numerous folks on the call.
Georgia had issues with chain of custody, ballot counting observation, strange all-Biden vote dumps, harvesting, etc.
Trump asking the SOS to do his job and fix the issues by sifting though the clear fraud isnt a crime.
Will he be able to get some of these criminals on the stand? More rigging 2023.
There’s nothing wrong with either of those two in the headline. It’s any candidate would say who’s down by a tiny amount
The Florida Supreme Court started a recount...The Repubs said...oh no....Florida Supreme court does not have standing in a Federal election...And that’s how it got to the USSC.
IMO he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Fulton county just assuming the majority of the jury make=up.
I recall at the time his asking to look for that actual number. I also know how the media twists not only his actual words, but they magically seem to find intentions that were never his to begin with. And people are sufficiently stupid enough not to bother checking the actual recordings.
They create a mantra : Trump Russia collusion, find me the votes and the one now “overturn” the election results. If the election wasn’t certified, it’s more accurate to say, challenge the election process”.
