A baby was rescued from a searing hot car in southern Texas earlier this week after the kid’s family accidentally left the keys in the vehicle.
Footage of the rescue taken by a bystander shows the scene unfolding in the parking lot of an HEB in Harlingen, which is at the southernmost tip of Texas.
[snip]
The bystander who filmed the scene told outlets that what was not recorded was a woman who climbed through the broken front windshield to reach the baby and hand the child out.
The heat index for that day was more than 100 degrees.

that would go over well... baby in sweltering car, and you’re complaining you lost your wallet... lol
The thing that amazes me in this thread are the number of people here who apparently have no idea that an inexpensive side window can be broken extremely easily with just about anything, but there are handy little tools that cost about $5 on Amazon that take a side window out instantly with just a tap and don't send glass flying everywhere. Many firefighters carry one in their protective clothing.
Almost all come with a seatbelt cutter.
“Well, that’s a whole different story. I was just following FR rules about not reading the article.”
I try hard to follow those rules, but curiosity for the “rest of the story” often spoils those plans.
Some here not only do not read the article but they do not read the comments as well. They will then pipe in with a comment that proves that fact since their take on the situation at hand is completely wrong.

Thanks for that link.
It is frowned upon.
I hate self locking car doors!!
“ break side glass...unlock door”
My very first thought, too. Why go through the toughest glass on the vehicle?
There are other little goodies as small as a key fob, even with key rings installed. They can be used both outside the car and inside (think “water”). I’ve used mine twice to help others, once a baby, once a dog, although both times the cars were running. Smallest window from which you can reach a lock button, click, and it’s open.
I used to lock them inside back in college quite often. Studying, worrying, running late, etc. so I started carrying a spare and hid one as well. Now I'm out in the woods and places far from help often, so it would be REAL inconvenient to lock them in. Although I can't remember the last time it happened now.
That’s pretty funny!
That would never happen to me though!
(I also have one of those small spring-loaded class breakers hanging from my mirror - I would just break the glass!)
Most new cars can be programmed where they won't lock without pushing the button on the key fob. On both my vehicles I programmed them to where they can't lock with the keys inside the vehicle.
And that would have saved time and energy.
And why did they pass the kid through the window? Couldn’t they just have opened the door once they were inside the car? Seems like a lot of panicked people.
He had to break the windshield because his blonde wife was in the backseat of the car.
I have to admit it crossed my mind for a split second. 🤣
Yeah, see my post #15 🙂
Yup. That shows how frantic he was, he couldn’t think of anything but rescuing his baby.
I think there are plenty of us. Same thin happened this morning again, though I think it was more like 4:30.
Why? I suppose you are a perfect parent?
