A Georgia Lowe’s employee attempted to stop shoplifters making off with $2,100 amount of merchandise, leaving her unemployed and with a black eye.
Donna Hansbrough, 68, saw three people loading up a shopping cart at a store in Rincon, about 30 minutes north of Savannah, and then leave without stopping to pay, police said.
The veteran employee then grabbed onto the cart allegedly being pushed by Takyah Berry — who slugged the older woman in the face three times, according to authorities. Berry, who was with her uncle, Joseph Berry and another man police identified as Jarmar Lawton, then made off with the goods, the Rincon Police Department said in a news release.

Your biggest culprit in retail theft are the employees that account for at least 25% of the shrink.
As for the amount of theft, a Home Depot manager told me, “if we put $100k in the registers in a day, $5,000 walked out the door.”
While Lowe’s and Home Depot have a large problem with theft, Amazon and Costco have developed business models that reduce theft.
Power tools are the most stolen item as they are the easiest to sell on eBay, Facebook, Craigslist, etc.
With that, the next Home Depot loss prevention measure will be chips in power tools the can only be activated at the point of sale.
If it worries the store, they’d have armed guards. That is what I’d do. Expecting an unarmed old lady to protect my place would be the last thing I’d do.
The Apple store in my town was repeatedly robbed. They eventually hired an armed guard. He stood there and watched it be robbed.
I’m just watching the whole thing collapse. Meanwhile, the average worker shouldn’t put themselves in a position where they will injure themselves so that the company shareholders can keep getting rich.
They already do. All the average person can do but buy ammo, vote for Trump and enjoy the show.
Now THAT is true collapse of society. GEEEZ!
They don’t want the armed guard to intervene, because of liability.
Why waste the money? Is it for show?
I feel like I’m on the wrong planet sometimes. Maybe that is why I’m interested in UFOs. I want to go home.
Is there a go fund me page for this lady? It would be fantastic if she got enough money so that she could retire in style.
I think it’s like a scarcrow.
I’ve seen some un-scary security hirelings.
I found her go fund me page and posted it in general chat.
And then the mods took it down, just saying “No thanks”.

All those “purge” and “zombie apocalypse” movies were CIA psyops to condition us to accept, even welcome, the chaos to come.
Given that anarchy is now I on our doorsteps, I have decided that gut-shooting home-invaders with a .22 is the way to go.
That way they will run off and die a few days later far away so you don’t have to deal with the shovel part of shoot, shovel and shut up.
Ace is one of my favorite stores:) Much better customer service at our Ace here than either our Home Depot or Lowes. But I’ll bet they have the same policy in place. It’s all about liability. It’s better to let things get stolen than to risk a big lawsuit by either an injured employee or and injured perp. We have lawyers to thank for that crap.
To my knowledge most retailers, banks, etc. have a policy that simply states, “if confronted with a demand for goods or money, comply with commands, do not hesitate”. My first job was a teller in a bank, decades ago, and that was the policy.
Don’t these stores have in-store security cameras and teams?
What is her platform? It is what the Washington State DemonRATs tell her to say. Here is what is given on her web page:
Federal Way City Council, Position 7:
“Your family needs to feel safe enjoying our beautiful parks, and they need to feel safe going to the grocery store without seeing homeless people who may be addicted to alcohol or drugs passed out on the street or being accosted by panhandlers. In this post-covid economy, small businesses need to be able to focus on surviving and thriving, not worrying about vandalism and theft.”
The Dems are NOT about fixing things, they are about control.
Here is her opponent, Linda Kochmar’s Statement:
“As your former State Representative, former Federal Way Mayor, and current Federal Way Council President, I have served you, the citizens of the Federal Way, with integrity and dedication for over two decades.
Politics has consistently been too divisive. I am running because I am deeply concerned about crime affecting our businesses and neighborhoods, drug addiction fueling our homeless population, and higher taxes burdening our families. We need affordable housing and job creation so we can live and work in our community. We must feel safe where we call home and where our children attend school.
It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of the Federal Way all these years, and it would be an honor to continue serving you.”
BTW, Linda told me was just jogging near the hardware store, when the incident occurred, and actually was interviewed by a KIRO TV newscaster.
It is now circulating in Rincon that the woman has been given her job back.
Local power wins!
