Ex-Officer Derek Chauvin to Ask US Supreme Court to Review His Conviction Murder of George Floyd
Twin Cities Pioneer Press ^ | July 19, 2023 | Steve Karnowski

Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review his conviction for second-degree murder in the killing of George Floyd, now that the Minnesota Supreme Court has declined to hear the case, his attorney said Wednesday.

The state’s highest court without comment denied Chauvin’s petition in a one-page order dated Tuesday, letting Chauvin’s conviction and 22 1/2-year sentence stand. Chauvin faces long odds at the U.S. Supreme Court, which hears only about 100 to 150 appeals of the more than 7,000 cases it is asked to review every year.

Floyd, who was Black, died on May 25, 2020, after Chauvin, who is white, pressed a knee on his neck for 9 1/2 minutes on the street outside a convenience store where Floyd tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill. A bystander video captured Floyd’s fading cries of “I can’t breathe.” Floyd’s death touched off protests worldwide, some of which turned violent, and forced a national reckoning with police brutality and racism that is still playing out.

It should be downgraded to completely innocent, along with the other persecuted officers. A dark and evil day in this country when the Stalinazi, White-hating culture and government canonized a career criminal who overdosed on fentanyl while suffering the effects of the China Flu.

White people aren’t equal to Black criminals, doncha know ? If Saint George of Fentanyl hadn’t been “murdered”, Black folks would have Wakanda already.

Floyd wasn’t punched, wasn’t slapped, wasn’t kicked, wasn’t tased, wasn’t shot, only did he was trained to do....there goes excessive force out the window. Political conviction 100%...

There's video evidence. You can look at it for yourself. I'm not going to defend a dirty cop who's guilty of police brutality. But yeah, he got railroaded. He was a dumb@$$. So he's paying for his stupid mistake for the rest of his life.

Guilty? Would he have been convicted of any crime if St. George of Floyd was white and Chauvin black? Not a chance.

“Except that he was guilty. He used excessive force.”

The autopsy done by the state indicated there was no trauma to the back of the neck or the airway. Floyd did not die from the restraining.

From the released 2023 autopsy it stated:

No life-threatening injuries identified
A. No facial, oral mucosal, or conjunctival petechiae
B. No injuries of anterior muscles of neck or laryngeal
structures
C. No scalp soft tissue, skull, or brain injuries
D. No chest wall soft tissue injuries, rib fractures (other
than a single rib fracture from CPR), vertebral column
injuries, or visceral injuries
E. Incision and subcutaneous dissection of posterior and
lateral neck, shoulders, back, flanks, and buttocks
negative for occult trauma

The medical examiner found that Floyd’s heart stopped while he was being restrained though fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine use may have increased the likelihood of death.

So with no recognized injury to the area, and Floyd able to talk it’s the same as a heimlich in that if they can talk, they can breath, so you don’t perform it. He died of a cardiac arrest from hypertension, the covid aftermath he had, and the drug mixture. Find the autopsy.

**...he was cryign and complainign hte whole time- speaking normally- listen to the audio- he inj no way sounded like at any time his neck was being squeezed...

Exactly. I even tried it out myself (on a hardwood floor). Nothing the officer did pinched the windpipe. And we breathe with our diaphram and abdomen.

There are even pics that show how he brought his right knee out and up to give leverage to take some weight off of his abdomen. I tried that as well. It made things better. I probably could have kaid like that for an hour without a severe risk, and I was 66, and have a scrawny neck.

Now since then, our inner cities have turned into "no-go" zones.

Inner cities have been no go zones for many decades. But now it just spills over into the surrounding counties, outer suburbs, etc..

HeightFeet & Inches: 5′ 9″. Weight Pounds: 154 lbs.

Except that he was guilty. He used excessive force.

floyds autopsy showed he had a leathal levels of fentynal in his blood stream along with other major health risks like heart disease, he showed no signs of trauma to his windpipe, he was talking the whole time until the drugs and stress killed him.

to believe a 5'9"-154# person can kneel on a 6'4" 220# mans back and kill him, Shows You are the epitome of ignorance.

If I’m not mistaken, the SC’s selection begiñs with death penalty appeals. They look to see if there were any issues with the trials that led to a death penaĺty.

I don’t know how many of those they look at per year.
